GOLDFINGER (1964) watch along

I’ve missed you all!!!

Wow! It’s been a week that hasn’t really ended for me! But, I was so happy to finally sit down and watch this film!

Well! I feel like this movie lived up to its hype! I enjoyed this one. It felt like a cozy James Bond Film that I was used to but with some awesome surprises! I feel like Sean hasn’t ever looked better! Awesome Bond girls, some epic one liners and an Epic Villain with an odd henchman! So many memorable moments characters and quotes! James Bond killing it with the charisma — I felt like everyhting in this one just leveled up! Gadgets, sets, car chases, Villain. Loads of camp and babes galore! I loved it!

Some of the memory bank kicked in from having seen Austin Powers but I had to wiki Goldmember 🤣 smelting accident. I had forgotten about that!! Wow, do I ever get that joke now.

Thanks for being here! Love the lot of you!

❤️❤️❤️✨✨✨

When I was a kid, the youngest of five children, my father took my three older brothers to see Goldfinger in the theater. Why wasn't I allowed to go? Because my father thought the whole affair was too expensive. For while normal ticket prices at the time were around $1, the movie theater jacked up the price of the Goldfinger tickets to an astronomical $3! (Even though it was a large city, there weren't as many theaters as today, only one screen to a theater and only one theater in town had Bond.) So sadly, my sister and I stayed home. (I must have been in just first or second grade!) The James Bond movies were the most popular of the time!

I am so happy that you enjoyed the James Bond movie Goldfinger. Believe it or not I watched this in the movies as a kid. I must have been 9 or 10. Although it was rated PG they weren’t seriously caring about anyone’s age. As a child when I saw Goldfinger, OMG it just blew my mind. I had never viewed any movie so incredible and such a spectacle, adventurous and intriguing. But then I saw Thunderball the next year and it was incredible I thought at the time as a 4th or 5th grader. I think it held up pretty well over the years. Adjusting for inflation it was the 2nd most profitable James Bond movie of all time only behind Skyfall. At the time this movie Hollywood tried to capitalize on it and created TV series such as The Men from Uncle , https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tM5gbwUrIgw and The Avengers , https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DjQRwMtae5g and Comedies like Get Smart, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AJ6gdRfBW6c, and even a hit song called Secret Agent Man that peaked at number 3 on the Billboard 100 , https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6iaR3WO71j4, and the toy of the day all boys wanted and even girls like me next to Barbie were secret agent attaché cases https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1t6Bd0MwEh8, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7eRpfa04I9c All this due to the popularity of James Bond. 😊

Great reaction to my favorite Bond film! This is the (pardon me) "gold standard" of all Bond movies :) I think it has the best mix of sly humor and drama of the series. Watching it also reminds me of how my Dad was stationed at Ft. Knox in the early 1950s when he was in the Army. He drove a tank and said that he and the other drivers would actually get bored and sometimes see who could knock over the biggest tree with their tank!
