Definately the sequal of sequels, in terms of satisfaction and doing justice to the original while bringing something new i don't think there is a better example. Top gun mav might be a close second but in those regards I think I'd put this one on top. As a caveat, I don't consider say empire strikes back as an example of a sequal, those I think are appropriately labeled as episodes. I think this one also came out exactly when it was supposed to. To have been made later even half a decade later close to matrix or early 2000s as cgi took over things start looking dated where vfx practical effects hold up over the decades. Best example is the special edition star wars compared to watching the old original. You can tell exactly every frame of cgi inserted "enhancements" and I hate them. Every scene with an explosion would have had a car blowing up towards the screen, that same visual effect every movie uses now.
