OOH! 2/3 of the Dollar Trilogy checked off! I think I am getting into the Spaghetti Western thing more and more, and feeling the vibe!
My screen bit the dust again, but it was smooth sailing! Hopefully get that problem resolved this week!
Spoilers Below*********************************************
I can definitely see the influence of Yojimbo here, even if I’m not fully clued in on all the backstory or the deeper politics of it all. That said, I still really enjoyed this film, and I think Sergio Leone nailed the stylistic feel he was going for. I felt pretty neutral about the "copycat" aspect of it because I don’t have a deep stake in that debate, but I just tried to jump on this ride and take it in for what it was, focusing on the technical aspects—and man, those were impressive. The cinematography, the pacing—it all felt so carefully crafted and visually stunning. And the score? Absolutely iconic. It really drives the whole film, setting the mood and cranking up the tension at just the right moments. Honestly, I think I liked this one even more than The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. I do, however, have a soft spot for Yojimbo's more developed storytelling and its quirky sense of humour. Although, I Loved the onliners in this! Just one more from this trilogy to go!
Thanks for being here ya'll!
