Star Trek 4: The Voyage Home YT Edit

I just saw this on the news. Gillian said whales don't eat people. Well......................... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3X2C46--2lY

This is definitely the funniest of the Star Trek movies, one of the things I find interesting is when it came out it was a a sci-fi movie but set in a contemporary time and now rewatching it 40 years later you could consider it a period piece.

Movies can have an impact on everything. In 1986 there were only 450 humpback whales left on earth then Star Trek 4 came out and then there was a renewed interest in saving them. Now there are 25,000 Humpbacks and there is talk of taking them off the endangered species list. Thank you, Star Trek.

I'm lagging behind so I watched this YT Edit and LOVED IT! What I really love to see is @Ames having a Great Time! Especially since I loved this one soo much too! Growing up in Seattle in the 60's all news channels would broadcast 'specials' about the "J, K, L and later the M" pods of Orca's within the Puget Sound! We also learned about them in school too! I also loved ST The Motion Picture! Those of us whom grew up watching ToS waited 10 years for it! Don't care what anyone says! Least I ask: "What is the opening dialog in ToS? I would also propose that Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is worth a look! Why? 10 Episodes per season (way too short), and Season 3 will start shortly! This is how Star Trek should be and is Thee Greatest Star Trek Show Ever! Captain Pike is arguably thee best Captain Ever! It's like one of those great shows where Everything is perfect! Thank you @Ames and I hope you have more experiences like this one!

This was the biggest hit of all the Star Trek movies. Originally Eddie Murphy was going to costar in this, but he couldn't for scheduling conflicts as was making Beverly Hills Cop 2.

Leonard Nimoy did an amazing job on this one. Such a ballsy move to direct ST III and IV w/o any experience, but it worked out perfectly.

I love watching your reactions could you react to these movies the way I did when I saw them in the theater. I'm of a blessed generation and I saw all Star wars movies one through seven in the theater and all the Star Trek original series movies and TNG Star Trek in the theater as well. I have the entire collection on DVD as well. You and me think a lot of like about Star Trek. I love the characters I love this movie. Is probably one of my favorites of the original series movies.

I actually read the book before I saw the movie. In the book they actually tell you the conversation that the probe was trying to have and then the conversation that the probe and the whales have at the end. It was something to the effect of where were you and why didn't you answer our calls. And it said it's okay we're back now and they explained what happened to the probe. The whales did. It was really pretty cool. Great reaction!

I love this movie. I put it right up there with the original ST episode when Kirk lost his memory, became a native American and fell in love with a hot native girl
