Upcoming this week!!

Hey Everyone!! Hope you all are having a fantastic start to your week! October feels are in the air, and all the neighbors in my area have started decorating for Halloween! It’s been amazing to see how creative people get! A LOT of skeletons!

This week, I’ve pushed the movies towards the weekend for those who want to watch something spookier!

Monday - Keep an eye out for Foreign and Classic Pre-1970s Horror Movie Polls today! Can’t wait to see what will win! I’ve got more treats lined up for you all coming soon!

Wednesday - Shaun of the Dead (2004). Poll Winner. What a great horror-comedy! This movie was a completely unexpected pleasant surprise! Loved that it was Edgar Wright-I had no idea as I went into this one blind! Loads of fun-definitely a special addition to Spooktober, and a movie for everyone!

AFI Friday - The French Connection (1971), #93 on the list! WHAT A FILM! I decided to skip over Pulp Fiction (for now). I want it to be part of my “The Movies That Made Me” series, so I need a little more time to prepare for that commentary. I didn’t want to feel rushed with it. So that’s my reasoning. I really enjoyed TFC, it was an intense ride 😉

Saturday - The Exorcist (1973) Poll Winner. Ellen Burstyn for the win. Man, I was hooked from the start in that movie. I ended up watching the Director’s Cut because it was the only one I could find to stream. Crave only had the French version (Canadian problems). This movie has a lot to offer as a film-the performances really sold the story. I have a few issues with it, but they’re minor. I realized I love a good exorcism movie—that’s what I learned about myself this week. I love exorcisms and zombies. LOL.

Thanks so much for supporting me here on Patreon. You all are GEMS!! I truly have the best crew!

Take care of yourselves this week!

xx

Gene Hackman‘s character is who Popeyes chicken is named after. Not the cartoon Popeye like some people think.

LMAOOOOO

Yeah, "The Exorcist: The Extended Director's Cut" is available to stream for purchase for $13.49 (no rent available) on US Amazon Prime Video. I will buy it. Looks like the theatrical version (but no director's cut) is available for free to US MAX subscribers. I read that the director's cut is better.

Starts singing “It’s the Friedkin weekend, I’m about to have me some fun”……..If you know you know.

Looking forward to Shaun of the Dead, The French Connection, and The Exorcist. Shaun of the Dead will be a first watch and is on my watchlist. The French Connection and The Exorcist I don't really remember.

Clay F

I’m seeing the Exorcist: Directors Cut available for stream purchase on Amazon Prime. Just a post so the smart people in the room can find it for those of us in the U.S. to use later this week. I’ll buy it if necessary but maybe someone knows where it’s streaming for free.

Soo good hahaha

Amalia Wolf

That’s cool!

I can't wait for Shawn of the Dead. Interesting fact: the writer of the movie got an idea to a zombie movie after staying up all night playing the video game Resident Evil 3.

Jason Vulgamore

I had no idea til I turned the movie on and then 2nd guessed myself

Amalia Wolf

Whoah, a William Friedkin double header!!!!! Brilliant! Looking forward to hearing your thoughts about both movies! (and then there's Shaun Of The Dead!)

Toc

Interesting! I had no problems with the DC! He’s a great filmmaker

Amalia Wolf

I thought Suspiria, Inferno, and Tenebrae were the trilogy-not-trilogy. I'm probably gonna see Deep Red for the first time later this month.

Paul Cox

Just saw the current poll and I love that Suspiria and Deep Red made it on there! They’re actually part of a trilogy along with Inferno (which has one of the coolest horror moments put to film, imo) but all work as standalone films. Other than Hitchcock, Argento is my absolute favorite horror director. Absolute genius. So looking forward to Shaun of the Dead and the Exorcist!

China Andronicus

Two of my favorite movies of all time. William Friedkin is woefully underrated. It's a shame you couldn't find the theater cut of the Exorcist. Some of the director's cut additional scenes really disrupt the flow of the story.

Marcus Cato

Yes and I had no idea ❤️😂

A Friedkin -Friendly Week is always a good one! Too bad you didn’t have time to squeeze in SORCERER and TO LIVE AND DIE IN LA… 😜

RFK Fan

Wow. An embarrassment of riches!
