Hey Everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend and a good start to your week!!

I took some time off this weekend to enjoy family and relax! I was SO ready to get back to watching some movies!!! I am also very excited to start rolling out some polls for Spooktober!!! I have lots of great nom's to go through👻

Tuesday- The Mummy (1999) I went on this ride at Universal Studios and so I felt like I needed to watch it! I had NO idea that it was a blend of genres and basically a comedy! It was exactly what I needed! Hope you all join me for the ride!!!

Wednesday- Wheel of Wonder!! Hints: I've always wanted to watch this and I cried my eyes out! but- that could really be anything knowing me!!! Congrats to the Winner! Such a great film!

AFI Friday- #96 "Do The Right Thing" (1989) I haven't watched this one yet so no Spoilers. I am excited but also feel like this one is going to be heavy.

Thank you all so much for being here! I appreciate you all soo so much!

That's a great point. For all the serious themes, it is genuinely a hilarious movie!

Hey Marcus! If I remember correctly, we exchanged a lot of fun messages during the TBR Schmitt Patreon Sopranos reactions, so it was very cool seeing your name pop up here. If you’re new here, benvenuto! It’s a good community, especially on Discord!

Hehe!

I always try to work out what the WOW pick is from the blurred picture.

I’m aware that Spike Lee’s films tackle complex issues, and I value different perspectives. But, here on patreon let’s keep the conversation respectful, less political and focused on the art and what we can learn from it. Thanks!

"Do The Right Thing" deals with some serious themes, but I wouldn't classify it as an especially "Heavy Movie". As in, a serious film that is expertly made, but not that enjoyable. I think you'll have a good time watching it. It's kind of like, "Dazed and Confused" if it was set in NYC in the 1980's, though more dramatic and less whimsical, imo.

Carl Lyngholm

Oh man, Do the Right Thing is not just a great film - it's essential, passionate, electrifying cinema from one of the very best directors. Fight the Power! I can't wait to see your reaction to this.

Henry Graham

The Mummy was a great movie. They tested the myth of using sunlight and mirrors to light a tomb on the show Mythbusters.

Jason Vulgamore

Nice. Do the Right Thing was really controversial at the time, but it seems like not a lot of people have seen it.

Marcus Cato

DO THE RIGHT THING was a major GAME CHANGER when it was released in 1989. That was also the year of Steven Soderberg's arrival on the scene with the fantastic SEX, LIES and VIDEOTAPE which went on to win most of the awards at all the major film festivals that year....
