"This is Spinal Tap" (1984) watch along

OMGEE!

So, I did a lottery spin from the last comedy poll and this won! Honestly, sometimes I think the Wheel is MAGICAL because I've been wanting to do a "Documentary" week for a while... and even though this is a "Mockumentary" it still fits!!!

This movie is brilliant! I have so much respect for it! I think I almost passed out because of the heat in here (30.5 C/86.9F) but I rocked on🤘🏽!! Honestly such good song lyrics and these guys must have improved a ton! I cannot wait for the fun facts to roll in!

Thank you soo much for being here on my Patreon! You all are the best and I'm so thankful for each and every one of you!!!

Enjoy your Friday!

I have to see clue! I’m dying too!

David St. Hubbins was played by Michael McKean, who is a favorite of mine. You'll know him if you've seen Clue. He plays Mr. Green. He's also in Airheads as the manager of the radio station. If you haven't seen either of those films, you really have to. Both are amazing. The comments aren't loading so I don't know if anyone told you, but there's a sequel to this coming out next summer with the whole original band and Rob Reiner, as well as some of the minor characters and cameos from people like Elton John. I cannot wait.

Ppl used just watched I think someone linked it

For whatever reason this isn’t available to stream in the states

I actually have a five-hour rough cut on video-tape! And it doesn't include any of the interview material! Haven't watched it in years (I don't have a VCR for one!) but I remember a few extra bits.

I love this! Thanks kino!

You know more than you think! "Nigel" is Christopher Guest who is one of the creators of "Best In Show", "A Mighty Wind", "Waiting for Guffman", and other mockumentaries descended from this. He's also the six-fingered man in Rob Reiner's "The Princess Bride" (which also features Billy Crystal) and is real English nobility (I'm not kidding) and has been married for years to Jamie Lee Curtis. "Derek" is Harry Shearer who voices about a third of the characters on The Simpsons and has had many other acting and voice-over gigs. Finally, Michael McKeon, who plays "David St. Hubbins", has been in countless films and TV series'. The three of them came up with the idea and wrote and performed the songs. They are all so gifted (as were the secondary players) that they improvised almost all of their dialog. It is said that there exists a rough-cut version that is many hours longer than the release cut.

😂😂😂😂😂I think it was even hotter in my room

Looking forward to this one, Ames! It's been on my list forever, but I never got around to watching it. Good job with the precise C to F temperature conversion!! 😂😉😂

This movie came out shortly after I ended my "career" as a working musician so it has a special place in my heart. So many great cameo appearances. So many awesome songs. I believe the final cut was edited down from around 100 hours of footage. There was a backstory that didn't make the cut, explaining the "cold sores". They all got herpes from the lead singer of their opening act. All the dialogue was improvised except for the character of Sir Denis Eton-Hogg. I recommend watching with the commentary track provided by David, Nigel and Derek. Another stellar pick. Thanks!!!

She’s soo good!

You mentioned it reminded you of Best in Show. That’s because Christopher Guest (Nigel) wrote and starred in both. Michael McKean (David), Harry Shearer (Derrick) starred in it as well. If you haven’t seen it, I highly recommend A Mighty Wind. Another Christopher Guest film centered around music. “But, these go to eleven.”
