Displaced Hero 118-121

Alright! Time for the Displaced Hero Release of the month. Though, a quick alert for those that weren't paying attention yesterday...I put the Feb Story Poll up very late. I also screwed up and it was open to everyone for a few hours, so I'm going to have to filter out a lot of votes when it finishes T-T. Don't trust that the apparent leaders are actually the apparent leaders, I have no idea and won't until it's over.

*sweat drop*

Anyway, enough about my screw ups! Onto the hopefully not a screw up!

This set of chapters, coming in at a bit over the 15k word target, follows up on Dromund Kaas, Izuku meets Yoda briefly, and events everywhere continue to build up. I'm happy with most of the release, though I wish I could have done more with the Izuku/Yoda meeting. Unfortunately, I discovered that I struggle greatly to write Yoda's speech pattern, and thus had to keep that section shorter than originally planned :-(.

Anyway, the usual bits! As usual, the new stuff is attached here in various formats, and I'll be posting new Master Files in the Pinned Post. I'll also put author's notes in the comments below when I have time. Enjoy more of 'Can One Displaced Hero Save the Galaxy?'!

Yep. I didn't even come close to using all of the options, either. I just went with the ones Light Side aligned and most likely to be recruitable to an extent. There are several more that are too isolationist to make it believable that they'd be willing to participate. As always, thanks for the new set of edits! They'll make their way into the next Master File release.

…you know, I shouldn’t be surprised that their are SO many different Force factions other then the Jedi and Sith yet here we are. Glad the Jedi Council is pulling together SOMEWHAT. Truly, the Jedi are not what they once were but peace always comes with a cost…sadly, stagnation is almost always one of them. Edit 1: …such individuals managing to “get last” long enough… …such individuals managing to “hide” long enough…(?) Edit 2: …even “as” Voss Mystic… …even “a” Voss Mystic… Edit 3: ..or “who” hard they wish… ..or “how” hard they wish… Edit 4: While he had “has” stepped back… While he had stepped back… Edit 5: …to finally “forced” through a… …to finally “force” through a… Or …to finally “forced” through a… …to “have” finally “forced” through a… Edit 6: …on them going “to” far… …on them going “too” far… And done for this month!

I honestly don't have a great pic for her, since there's surprisingly little in the way of Sith Pureblood artwork out there, and most of it depicts blatant dark side users -_-. Someday, maybe I'll have time to draw something myself, but that day has not yet come....

*shrug* So is light. That doesn't mean you can transfer light down a copper cable or electricity through fiber optics. While I didn't want to get too technical, I did create an actual reason. (Practically, of course, it's because letting ships tap into plantery energy grids half a galaxy away is too broken). Effectively, the EM field created by active transference of electricity has a destabilizing effect on the quantum tunnel. A sufficiently large and stable tunnel, like the Jump Gates, can handle it. Which is why a ship with a lot of actively running energy lines can pass through fine. But those are prohibitively energy expensive to maintain and much too large to use for anything BUT moving large objects.

Very fun chapters. Like the jedi crapping their pants and being actually proactive. One thing that jumped at me as oxymoron is the radiation is good to teleport but power is not. That doesn't make sense to me since radiation is by itself propagation of energy.

Zavra looks like a cool and collected warrior in her pic, when she's really just a puppy. I'm sure her old mistress would have gotten her cyber ears and tail if the Sith knew about puppy girls. Yay chrome! Super cyber soldiers! The world needs more Trans-humanism!

White Neko Knight

Yeah, they aren't printing full ships, just the harder to make parts in order to make them more effected, but yes, it will annoy anyone to eventually figures it out ;-). I'm trying to keep a balance of making the League relevant by giving it the right level of manufacturing ability and technical edge, without making them over powered by having something like a full blow Star Forge :-p.

Novus Peregrine

Won't comment on Sidious and keeping up, since anything I could say might be spoilers :-p. As for the Jedi moving the Main Temple. It's a bit of a six of one, half a dozen of the other situation. It would be seen as a sign of either weakness or contempt by most to move it away from the heart of the Republic, AND it would genuinely slow their response times to big crisises. Having the main operations temple being there actually make legitimate sense. It IS the heart of the Republic, after all. Having EVERYTHING there is a the real issue. Particularly exposing their trainees. Even ignoring the lore about the older Sith Temple under the main Jedi Temple, and the Dark Side Nexus it's capping? The planet is crime ridden with zero nature left. Which can't be a good influence on creating well balanced and grounded force sensitive children.

A lot of my problem isn't just the speech flow. Which is annoying enough. But I also tend to be very verbose, with complex sentences. Which runs completely counter to how Yoda speaks. I have no idea if such a translator would fix that.

Novus Peregrine

Just a quick comment (not checking existing comments for if already mentioned), but there are (or have before, its been awhile) "Yoda speech" Translators/generators online. It has been years and I just did a Google search at the time so couldn't give any recommendations, but I remember finding at least a couple. Mainly because I remember one I didn't like, not that it was horrible moreso it... lacked the right cadence or something. There was a decent one as well though. Getting Yoda's speech to flow is hard, and takes practice. Perhaps there might be a YouTube compilation of all Yoda's lines you could watch to help?

They already control all of Huttspace outside the Throneworlds, and control all of the routes going into the throne worlds. Since these worlds are clear of resources from 25000 years of Hutt use, the Hutts can't really build new ships or ground troops. In the last batch they cracked the Shields of the Fortress worlds, and it was implied that from now on it is only a slow slugging match between their well supplied troops and the dwindling reserve of the Hutts. So, while the war isn't really won completly yet, their victory is pretty much assured. The only question now is how hard those Hutt worlds resist and how many soldiers must die on both sides.

Sidious plan seems to be getting fucked with at all stages. Even with all the contingencies he no doubt has (and had to use practically none of in canon, as the republic and Jedi essentially walked blind into the trap). With the rate the Jedi are cleaning up as well as people like Celeste still after him (and the other Jedi shadows that Aayla will undoubtedly tell to practically live under force cloak). I dont believe he can keep up. Especially like the council learning about Anakins relation to Palpatine. Hopefully they manage to curtail that somewhat from now on. Best for the Jedi would actually be to move the main temple away from Corruscant. But that just isnt politically feasable within and outside their own faction. The satalite academies are a good compromise.

Daemonioros

i actually like the IES's growing, and approve of how hard it is to do so. i'm also really looking forwards to the, hopefully distant future, when people finally discover that Izuku and his people are literally just printing starships out of thin air and basic resources. i know that the IES's are mostly making the super fiddley high tech stuff that needs super rare and controlled resources or is crazy hard to manufacture, not just printing the ships wholesale, for the most part, but it's still funny

Delphinous

Things are ramping up! I’ll admit I was half asleep when I read the last set of chapters, but when did Izuku’s faction pretty much win the hutt war? There was a mention of Hutt remnants, which implies that they’ve pretty much won already. Not that I’m complaining. That war was dragging on a bit long.

WhatAFungi

Damn choom~ That's some preem chrome~

TheZombieDoc

Yeah, I found that bit about the Object then Subject on Google, but it didn't help. I very nearly failed out of English the year that they covered sentence diagraming and all the different tenses :-p. For whatever reason, despite the fact it's my native language and I'm obviously quite good with writing it, it just does NOT click with me. So I basically end up having to rewrite his lines by feel, as it were, and it makes it worse that he only ever speaks in short sentences. Given how verbose my writing style is, I kept having to break out and simplify everything I wrote for him. It was possible, just headache inducing and time consuming, so I kept his lines down to a minimum...

Novus Peregrine

If I remember what I figured out about how Yoda talks or rather his sentence structure, he places the object first, then subject, then the verb. So "Strong you are, Luke." Instead of "Luke, you are strong" Or instead of "You should pick me up so I can see" it may be: "See, I can not. Pick me up, you should." It should also be noted that his sentence structure is still technically correct. Something you may try, write his lines normally first, then go back afterwards to change them. A look at the whole sentence could help. On the other hand if you still have trouble I'm sure you can find a Yoda speech converter online.

That fact varies from source to source. It's hard to access in SWTOR, but possible. Republic Era has it only ever being accessed via Force Sensitive guided jumps. Imperial era has it under Empire control as you mentioned. I'm treating it as 'a known stable hyperlane doesn't currently exist at the time period they are in, as the Jedi deliberately haven't looked for one. The Empire eventually would throw resources at it until they found one, since Palpatine wanted the Kyber.'

Novus Peregrine

Illum dosnt need a force sensitive to plot the hyperspace jumps, in Jedi: Fallen Order it’s shown that the empire is strip mining it’s Kyber Crystal for use in the Death Star’s Main reactor, there’s no way a dark sider would have the patience to be stuck on this job, so getting multiple is a no go. so it means that it’s accessible on an industrial level thus can be navigated to by normies
