One Piece - Halfway Broken 98 & 99

I'm almost late getting this out since it's both longer than usual for a 1st of the month release, and I needed to sleep off yesterday -_-. There was entirely too much weed involved in the annual Lan party I went to. Not from me (I dislike the stuff. I don't care if others love or hate it, I just personally don't like it) or even the two people I actually go to see. Rather, it was one of their kids and the group of reprobates from college they brought along. Seriously, I haven't had a contact high since my own long-gone years in college, and it's even less pleasant at my current age than it was back then.
Anyway, getting back on track, we have a nice 8,400+ words release of Halfway Broken to ring in 2026 with! Including a bit of lemon zest, for those of you who want it :-p. This particular release focuses down on relationships a bit, but don't worry too much if that's not your thing. While it's something that needs building on during the Timeskip, it also won't be the sole focus of such. As evidenced by their just-concluded adventure on Drakestone.
As usual, the new chapters are attached here in various formats, and the new Master Files, containing the entire story, will be up in the Pinned Post shortly. I'll also be doing some Author's Notes for the chapters after I get that done. You'll be able to find them in the comments, also as usual, though give it a bit so I can actually write them :-p. She genuinely liked Luffy for not turning to stone without haki, but here the only thing going for this Luffy is freeing the slaves and accidentally killing celestial dragons and an elder. It'll be interesting to see how you write a ride or die like her with possibly no interest in this Luffy, maybe even being straight up antagonistic towards him and the crew (though I doubt she would be due to Rayleigh). 2026-01-02 12:30:04 +0000 UTCYep to Rusukaina being somewhat useful. Honestly more to the rest of the crew instead of Luffy and Yamato. Those two are already far enough along that the island won't be all that directly useful to them, though what Rayleigh can teach personally will be. Zoro, in particular, will benefit from it as an alternative to his training with Mihawk and the Humadrills. At least as far as Haki goes.

2026-01-02 12:27:48 +0000 UTCChapter 98 A/N 1: Honestly, aside from pointing out the ridiculousness of how easy it actually SHOULD be to navigate the Grand Line, if Oda didn't ignore all logic, not a lot to say about this chapter :-p. It's really just cleanup of the Drakestone adventure and setup for the next arc.

Looking forward to Weatheria and then Rusukaina :) Beyond Rayleigh’s initial haki lessons, Rusukaina will be a great island for the crew to revisit at several points during the timeskip so that they can train against strong opponents. Would love to see a good chunk of the crew ‘conquer’ the island by the end of their two year training. Happy new year!
