As a reminder, There is Currently a Poll Ongoing regarding Eridium Dreams and Stripper with a System. Make sure to vote on it if you care about either story!
With that reminder given, time to talk about this release of Halfway Broken! These chapters (bit over 9,600 words) represent the true start of the 2-year time skip arc. As I've said many times, I will not be skipping this period the way Oda did. There will be some time skips, but they will be much smaller chunks of time. Meanwhile the crew will be hitting both islands that were seen in reviews from their time skip training in canon, and some original islands besides.
This period will not focus purely on their training. That would get old, quick. Instead, in addition to some original adventures similar to what I did with Wind's Home/The Crystal City, it will also be a time period in which intra-crew dynamics can be more properly built up. In example, getting the multi-ship pairing for the story (Luffy/Nami/Robin/Vivi/Yamato) fully off the proverbial docks. Meanwhile, some crew members that I couldn't give enough attention to due to the compressed timeline of the main Grand Line run, will also get a little fleshing out. Likewise, we'll continue getting outside perspectives (one chapter of this release focuses on such, in fact) to show how the world outside the Straw Hats is shifting more and more away from canon.
This release happens to be a good example. One chapter of training, one chapter of relationship and crew interaction, and one chapter of outside perspectives. Though it won't always be as clean as that. Anyway! That's the plan moving forward, so enjoy this most recent release! As usual, the new stuff is attached here in various formats, and I'll be posting new Master Files in the Pinned Post. I'll also put author's notes in the comments below when I have time.

2025-11-01 11:03:26 +0000 UTCI'm really hoping that the crew hits the venus fly trap island Usopp was stuck on in the timeskip, I feel like that island is interesting enough to potentially warrant a whole mini arc for it. If not Usopp's island then potentially Mihawk's island, the island's potential lore is cool plus everyone loves Dracule. Gotta say the outside perspectives continue to be some of my favorite things in this story plus it's great to see that even though the crew will never visit Water 7 it, and Franky, will still be relevant. Btw Novus, will Sanji be receiving any of his enhancements in this story? Ik that the raid suit was responsible for awakening them in the first place, but surely someone notices Sanji isn't a normal human and can awake his enhancements without the raid suit. Tyftc!

2025-10-17 15:27:40 +0000 UTCI know I've put it in A/Ns and I think it may have been mentioned off hand in the story? Essentially, without Robin to act as a catalyst, CP-9 still wasn't getting anywhere when the WG started pulling in everything for the Marineford War. Thus, CP-9 got quietly pulled out and reassigned to guard Celestial Dragons to free up Marines, with pretty much the entire unit dying ingloriously to the Strawhats at Sabaody as a result. Had they been left in place, it's possible they would have eventually found another path. But they'd been assigned there for YEARS without success in canon, and only got anywhere with Robin to use as a scare tactic for Iceberg.

Clearly, Iceburg doesn't seem to know Kalifa and the rest's real identity, so they may not have been made, but I do wonder how Lucci's team failed without Luffy to throw a wrench in their plans.
