October Story Poll Results!
Added 2025-09-27 02:06:08 +0000 UTCAlright! Voting finished at midnight yesterday, but I only just gotten the tallying and vote weighing calculations done. So, off we go...
--------------------------------
Harry Potter: Pandora's Box: 110 + (20% Boost) = 132
Mass Effect: Eridium Dreams: 81.5 + (60% Boost) = 130.4
My Hero Automata: 78 + (40% Boost) = 93.6
A Very Confused Pokemon Adventure: 84.5
Why Was There No Truck?!: 55
--------------------------------
Whew! This one was a bit of a wild ride. I'm going to be honest, when I was doing the tallies? I thought for sure Eridium Dreams was finally going to win. Only for the people who like Pandora's Box to defy expectations and pull off (barely) a win with only a 20% boost! I almost moved some of my own votes over to Eridium Dreams to make it win anyway, it's been a long while for it and it was very close. I ultimately decided against it for two reasons:
1) The highest number of votes overall was for Pandora's Box, if we remove the weighing. Which means those wanting it really pulled hard for it and it wouldn't be fair to pull the rug out from under them after their effort :-).
2) I have a snippet of another Mass Effect story I'm working on that people might like. I haven't had the time to clean it up yet, but I might extend it a bit and clean it up as an extra so that the Mass Effect fans will get something...even if not quite what they wanted. The truth is, Eridium Dreams has historically performed poorly enough that I was considering pulling it. I'm reconsidering that now, given how well it did even without the boost. But, well, we'll see. Maybe people will like the new Mass Effect story more anyway. It'll probably be something I put up to a vote.
Anyway, sorry to the Eridium Dreams fans, but the winner this time is Harry Potter: Pandora's Box. It will be getting the poll story slot for October! Don't despair, fans of other stuff! Confused Pokemon Adventure will start getting a bonus in the next poll, which gives it a very good chance. Eridium Dreams nearly won this time, and it and My Hero Automata will continue to accrue more boost, and...well, Why Was There No Truck?! had a decent showing for a story that was just updated and had no boost? Yeah, we'll go with that!
For now, look forward to more Pandora's Box, and hopefully the new Mass Effect story concept chapters! :-)

I'm going to be honest. I've lost all interest in the Borderlands series since Gearbox killed off my favorite character for seemingly no reason. If I ever used anything from it directly, I would probably be stealing Maya as a protagonist in another universe. To save her from Gearbox's evil.

2025-09-30 05:18:08 +0000 UTC*raises hand* me? Mind you, it was 6-8 months from conclusion not just a few. And the poll putting it up against Halfway Broken was OVERWHELMINGLY in Halfway Broken's favor. I admit I'm a little depressed Automata has done so abysmally in the polls since it was demoted to a poll story...

2025-09-30 05:15:59 +0000 UTCAnyone else feel kinda' screwed going from two guaranteed updates a month to no guaranteed updates at all on MHA right after being told we were just a few months from a conclusion?

2025-09-30 04:34:02 +0000 UTCI have commented before on the possibilities of a Borderlands fic, and I can understand your point about not having a developed enough world setting. Recently I had the thought though that you might be able to do a fic about an AU Borderlands, where the whole setting is a far future of a version of the "Destroy" Ending to Mass Effect, but its based on your Eridium Dreams verse Destroy ending. Earth destroyed by Reapers, the Destroy ending wiping out all the Mass effect technologies and isolating the remaining survivors of humanity. Much of history is lost along with the origins of Eridium, sirens origins becoming lost, or Sirens for it are biotics instead of the Eridium Dreams version, or a mix/new version, the Vaults maybe having sealed Reapers/their forces. It would take some work, but it seems like something of the like could be done, though the "story" from the games would probably have to be drastically changed. Have it be about discovering the truth of the past rather than just a bunch of treasure hunters (though they could start that way). The worlds and travel methods of the Borderlands verse being what they are and not meeting other races is because without the Relays travel/expansion is linear and related to alternative FTL developed since.
