MARCH POLL
Added 2024-02-27 22:02:43 +0000 UTCHey Everyone!! Changing it up this month and I will be watching the top 2 winners of this poll in March π¨I also decided to do a separate poll for WAR films because I want to have some diversity - knowing they might dominate the polll... so keep an eye out for that poll coming up next!
Thank you for all your NOMS! I really appreciate all of them! It was hard to pick for this poll as you all have such awesome suggestions!!!
Knowing the way the polls go, I bet there will be a few ties LOL!!!
***approval style voting pick as many that apply!

I came up with the idea for a couple of reasons. First, I was a member of another Patreon page (which I will not name). The winners of the polls were an endless string of superhero flicks, bro comedies, and franchise stuff (Transformers etc). I don't mind this stuff occasionally, but when only a few genres dominate it can feel soul-crushing. Second, I think it's fair for minority interests to have at least some representation instead of zero. To use a dumb example, imagine a family: Mom, Dad, son, daughter. Mom and Dad love fish, son loves spaghetti, and daughter loves steak. They vote on dinner every night, and the parents' two votes always win. So it's fish every night, forever. This doesn't seem balanced to me; seems like each interest should be represented proportionally. That's what my idea attempts to do.

I'll call it the "So you're saying there's a chance?" plan (in honor of Dumb and Dumber). There would be two reactions per poll. First, the poll winner would get a reaction. So to use the last poll (Westerns), as an example, Unforgiven, the poll winner with 45 votes, would get a reaction. The second reaction would be determined by a weighted-lottery of all the remaining nominations. Every vote for each nomination would be converted into one slot on the Wheel of Wonder. So True Grit would get 35 slots, Open Range 30, Dances with Wolves 27 all the way down to Hostiles with 4 slots and My Darling Clementine with 3. Then Ames would spin the wheel, and whichever movie was picked would get a reaction. This would ensure that the most popular choice gets a reaction, but the other choices at least have **some** chance to win (in proportion to their popularity). In this system every vote counts because it raises the chances of your film winning in the 2nd round.
