2024-02-11 23:36:26 +0000 UTCDefinitely not as good as my first watch, I went into it with little expectations a few years after it came out and really loved it. The third quarter is really weak, basically when they get to the 'scavs' they throw in a bunch of action and the 'scavs' are just pretty dumb. I think you are probably right in that it seems like there's hints of more development with them that got cut. Also the explanation of the invasion seems to fly against the internal logic in the movie to me, they seem to retain their essential personality and even glimpses of their complex memories which govern how they behave, hence all the questions and events of the story, so how were thousands-millions convinced to go and exterminate humankind? Why did they put that in there when the drones already exist and are exactly that; quick and efficient mass killers? That and other dumb parts of the 'scavs' section of the movie was a real let down and low point. But definitely great visual and audio design in this and the basic sci-fi in it is what I love.
