I feel like I match the movie sometimes...I don't wanna let you guys down but I feel like my facial expressions say a lot about this movie. I had so much inner turmoil just like I felt Kate did.

2024-01-20 05:51:41 +0000 UTCI just enjoyed the full watch-along version with you, Ames. I had seen Sicario when it was first released and it was interesting to see it again. A couple of things stood out to me this time. Throughout the entire film, JΓ³hann JΓ³hannsson's pulsating score gave me a visceral "bad-shit-is-about-to-go-down" feeling deep in my gut. Denis is a master at building the tension and the score was such an effective complement to Villeneuve's direction! No wonder JΓ³hannsson was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Score. I loved the long shots in the film. To me they are such a metaphor for maintaining distance. Distance from the true objectives of the mission. Distance from the questionable methods of the government task force. Distance from the truth. At the start of the film, there is so little information available to us. We (and Kate), are completely in the dark about what is happening. By the end of the film, we find ourselves asking the question, "Do we really want to know the truth about these things?" It's far from certain that we do.
