Barbie Movie Watch Along

I loved this movie and I thought it was going to be just a comedy! I didn't think I was going to be immersed as much as I was with its Magic and CRY my face off ( and makeup) LOL! I felt so many things. I felt like this was really well done. It was smart. And really didn't need a commentary. The movie was a commentary. But, like me I do go on a lil' tangent at the end. Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling where amazing in this. Literally made for these roles. The whole production, set deck, costumes, hair and makeup literally everyone who worked on this did an incredible job making it come to life! Weird Barbie and Alan where such great additions to the movie.

Glad I watched this!

Thanks for being here! Love ya!

Barbie Movie Watch Along

Such a great movie, I am a guy and I love this movie, it just shows modern men/woman gender roles so well, woman stil get fucked in this sort of situation, they alwas have to be stong, but it also shows how men arent appreciated anymore and are painted as the villan even tho most guys arent that problem, its just such a well made movie showing both sides. Shit is bad these days, and woman still have it worse im sure, but men also struggle more than ever because of the "meta". Very well done, its a move that is great for everyone.

But, like you said at the end, this movie isn't just for women, it's for everyone. And I'm glad you mentioned that, because I don't think "MEN" as a whole rule the world, it's particular groups of elite men (and a few women). Most men are just trying to get by and don't really exercise a significant amount of power, imo, just by virtue of being male. I think this film is a very important statement in the history of the conversation about gender relations, but it really is just a start. This might be a bleak POV, but fundamentally, I think most people are really quite selfish and, while they don't wish to harm others, don't really care that much about the welfare of others. To paraphrase the philosopher/economist Adam Smith, most people would be much more troubled by the loss of their own little finger than by the deaths of millions in an earthquake in China. (It's true, I really do forget most of the bad news on tv by my second coffee.) As long as that's true, I think gender relations will only improve in fits and starts. Bottom line: women definitely deserve to be treated with more equality and respect. And I'm not going to throw in a "BUT" here, saying that most men have it tough, too. I just am curious if, in the decades to come, there will be some sort of a male response in this conversation. I'd be interested to see what that film would look like. I was glad to see your heartfelt reaction. This was definitely more thought-provoking than I expected, and it was done in a playful, and not mean-spirited, way. Glad to have seen it.

As others have said, this definitely entertained me. I expected to be visually dazzled, and I was (I liked the Barbieland to RealWorld montages and the Ken danceoff at the end the best). The funniest part was the Kens serenading on the beach (every guy's fantasy since the days of the screaming/fainting Beatles fans). I'm not a woman, so it didn't affect me the same way that it affected you, and I can't pretend to understand the daily struggles of women. I can observe small things, though. Example: I absolutely adore Helen Mirren -- she is so intelligent and funny, and I treasure her appearances on the Graham Norton show. Here's the thing: she kinda gets treated like crap on the show. Whenever she tells a funny story, she never gets quite as much laughter as any male guest's story. She is habitually cut off while speaking. And after the interruption she's never allowed to get back to her point. She's about as legendary as they come in the industry, and these are supposedly the most "enlightened" men in the world (at least that's what Hollywood and its UK equivalent proclaim to be) -- and she still gets this treatment, and other subtle forms of disrespect. It really infuriates me, and I imagine this is only a taste of what most women suffer daily.
