L.A Confidential Watch Along

What an amazing film! WOW! I loved it! Friggen babbled at the end when all i had to say was

ROLLO TOMASI!! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

Thanks for getting this one to win on the poll.. was this an underrated movie thou? Seems like its incredible? I saw after that this came out the same year as Titanic and Kim Basinger won for Best Supporting Actress. I was def not watching this as a kid cause I was too busy watching Titanic 11 times in theatres!!! I have never seen "In and Out" but can imagine Joan Cusack doing an amazing job - But, I think I woulda gone Julianne Moore for "Boogie Nights" for Best Supporting Actress that year. I do have a soft spot for Matt Damon and Robin Williams in "Good Will Hunting" as they where amazing and Damon was a breakout star... but I'm still a little baffled that Russell Crowe wasn't nominated.

NOW my curiosity has got me I am doing a deep dive into the Movies nominated for that Year and I'm like WAIT A SEC hold up. These 3 men weren't nominated? Thats absolutely OBSURD. I feel like "As Good As It Gets" is extremely over rated? But, I haven't seen a lot of those movies nominated from that year. WOW. ok. now I see what you guys mean. At least they won for Adapted Screenplay. Looks like if this was based off a book its gotta be good.... 1998 seemed like a jam packed year, but perhaps a year where they just voted faves to win???

Let me know your thoughts down below!!

I like your comments above. Kim Basinger Oscar well-deserved. it is suprising that one of the male actors didn't get nominated. I guess jam-packed year. The movie is critically acclaimed. RT = 99%. Metacritic = 91%.

The Hopeless Shoot-out finale scene has got to be the Best Nail-biting scene in Film Noir history.

Been a long time since I've seen this one, but it was great! The whole cast was excellent, esp the leads (3 cops, Basinger), and the locations and costumes really evoked the time. (I like how you tied the wardrobes to Bud and Ed's personalities, great insight!) The nighttime driving shots with colors in the background (red sticks out in my mind) were beautiful. My only "gripe" is that they didn't have enough of them! (Maybe they were saving nighttime shots for the finale.) I also wanted more interior shots of that bar with Spacey having a drink, they also looked fantastic. Would love to get more noir on the channel (classic, neo, or tech). Love that dramatic lighting.
