Schindler’s List now on YT

Hey Everyone! this was a poll winner on YT that I finally watched.

I really struggled like most people watching this. I was an emotional wreck after and had to have a popsicle (this is me having a popsicle). I honestly couldn’t talk for hours after. I went and cuddled Jedi and went for a walk in the woods. And thought of everything I am grateful for.

Thanks for being here❤️

I cried for 10-15 minutes after seeing the movie for the first time in 1996. NGL I avoided seeing it in the theaters because I didn’t know how emotional I would be and I didn’t feel comfortable sharing these emotions in a public place. I’m a lapsed Catholic, but I’ve always felt a strong connection to Jewish people and I found out a few years ago that through Ancestry that I have Jewish ancestors from Eastern Europe. I briefly dated a Jewish woman who was a filmmaker and one of the most beautiful women I’ve ever encountered. She taught me so much in so little time and though we weren’t meant to be, she has had a profound effect on my life, opening my mind and heart. In 2011 I met a local Holocaust survivor through work, a man named Joe Engel. It was and is one of the greatest encounters and experiences I ever had. After he spoke I asked him what we could do for him and he said, “never let them forget”. I gave him my word and afterwards gave him a hug. Joe died last November at the age of 95. His last name translates to “Angel” and I truly believe he was one. 🙏 The whole movie was harrowing, but when they showed the real-life Holocaust survivors at the end I had to pause it and wept uncontrollably. It was painful yet illuminating and inspiring, too. And, like you, Ames, I was forever and better changed because of this movie.
