"Size Difference World" Game Development Story

All images created this week have already been added to the private gallery. They can be found in the June 2025 folder (the path to it in the private gallery is: > 2025 > 06). Please read the post for details.

Hi!

It's Sunday again, and I'm back with a new post.

As always, I've created some content over the past week.

I would like to take this opportunity to express my endless thanks for supporting my activities to my general sponsor with the nickname:

Sam Smith

Your support helps me a lot!

I have decided to optimize my content publication schedule a little to save more time. I am desperately short of time, and I devote all my free time to developing games and creating content. Those who have been following me for a long time know that I try to publish content almost every day. Even though it doesn't take too much time, it would be useful to devote that time to developing games or creating new images. I want to try to move away from daily content publication. Instead, I will try to publish all the content that was created over the past week once a week. This will be at least 5 new images (barring any force majeure) and an updated working build of the game (if there are significant updates). Let's see how it goes. If something goes wrong, I can always go back to the previous content publication method. I hope my followers will support me.

All images created this week have already been added to the private gallery. They can be found in the June 2025 folder (the path to it in the private gallery is: > 2025 > 06). Over the next week, previews of these images will appear on my pages on other sites (Pixiv, Deviantart, etc).

The working build of Size Difference World has also been updated.

Read the pinned post for patrons at the very top of the feed to find a link to download the working build and images.

This weekend, I continued creating locations for future storylines. Everything I've created so far are preliminary versions using standard RPG Maker graphics and a few purchased DLCs. More details and decorations will be added in the final version. However, I think the current version looks beautiful too.

My idea is that the game world should have a very modern look. Even though there is magic in that world and it is ruled by an empress, modern technology is also present in large quantities. To emphasize this, I started creating a modern city location. This city can be found in the latest working build by traveling around the world map in different directions.

I would like to remind that the player cannot access the world map immediately. The main character gains access to the world map after completing a series of conversations with Scarlet. After that, by approaching the gate at one of the locations in the starting city, the main character can leave its boundaries.

I repeat, this is only possible at this stage of development, for testing purposes. Everything will change in the future.

When I created the first location of the new city, I really wanted to liven it up with something. Yes, various NPCs will appear there later, as in the starting location. However, I wanted something more...

I decided to create moving vehicles... And it was a terrible decision that killed a lot of my nerve cells!

I couldn't even imagine how much effort it would take me to write the simplest algorithm using standard RPG Maker tools. I just needed the car to drive from one edge of the screen to the other, and stop if the main character appeared in its path. And the train cars just had to follow each other in strict order!

Perhaps someone with more extensive knowledge of RPG Maker would have easily solved this task. But I spent a huge amount of time on it! At one point, I wanted to give up and leave the city without any vehicles. I would have simply added NPCs in the future. Fortunately, there are no problems with them...

Somehow, I achieved what I wanted. Although the movement of vehicles turned out to be less than ideal, I decided to leave everything as it is for now. Perhaps I will make some changes in the future.

Unfortunately, I didn't have time to add new images to the game build this week. Right now, my main focus is on finishing my second game, Final Exam. Its release is very close. More details in the series of posts about the development of Final Exam...

Who is interested in the progress of game development, please keep an eye on the posts.

Many thanks to everyone who supports my activity!
