Game development continues, and I'm back here with the new post.
At the moment I'm continuing to transfer the new part of the scenario into the game. This part was too big to move it quickly, so this work is being postponed to next weekend as well.
In general, as I said, I alternate periods of working on the scenario with creating images for the cutscenes. I'm really hoping that next weekend I'll be able to finish moving this part into the game in time to move on to working on new images for the scenes already created.
As a reminder, while I'm creating new scenes, I'm replacing the images for them with text stubs (white text on a black background). This, of course, looks very bad and, until recently, I didn't pay much attention to it.
However, this weekend, I came up with the idea to make the stubs transparent and put the text in the window. How strange that this idea didn't come to me right away. Apparently, my crazy life doesn't allow me to give it much thought.
With this change, the game process looks much better. And for more effect, I made the dialog balloon appear above the character speaking at the moment (like in a manga). I had to do a bit of work looking for all the places in the script where the balloon should appear. Unfortunately, RPG Maker MV doesn't automate this process, so I had to manually set the appearance of each balloon. I hope I didn't miss any places.
The only remaining point that catches my eyes and is sometimes unnerving is the transition effect between images in the cutscenes. Each stub image looks the same, but they are actually different files which, later, will be replaced with the original images. If I don't use the transition effect when changing images, it will look very bad. And all these transitions should be done in advance, because it will be very problematic to do it later. Thus, at the moment, there is a darkening of the screen during dialogs, when the image should change. Unfortunately, there is no way to avoid it. In the final version, when all the stubs will be replaced with original images, the scenes will look beautiful. This can be appreciated in scenes for which images have already been created.
Well, right now I'm working on a cutscene that takes place in the house of the main character's new friends. They have a pleasant talk, and in the course of their dialog, the protagonist learns something new about playing the game he accidentally fell into. It is quite intriguing and makes him think.
At the conclusion of the part I managed to put into the game, the protagonist has a small choice to make... However, the choices the player has to make in the future will determine the course of the game going forward!..

The new image for the cutscene has been added to a special section in the private gallery (Size Difference World The Game / 2025 / 05 / May 4).
