"Final Exam" game devlog

This devlog is still active, and today I’m writing a new post.

Many of my followers have written to me that it would be better to create posts for the devlog of the game Final Exam in a separate thread, as before. Well, at the request of many, I will continue this devlog. Let's do new posts here on Wednesdays.

Let me remind that, at the moment, I'm developing a lighter version of the game, because many people said that the game was turning out to be too difficult.

The lighter version of the game contains the same game mechanics as the full version. The only difference is that there are much fewer levels in the game, and the number of enemies on the levels has decreased.

This is still a platformer game. According to the game’s lore, tiny witches sometimes get in our world from their parallel universe. They are not able to cause serious harm to people, but they can cause a lot of unpleasant minor troubles.

To fight the tiny witches, a magical service of witch hunters was created. Hunters find the places where the witches are active and send them back to their world.

The problem is that tiny witches exist in accelerated time, and ordinary people are not able to see them. To fight the witches, the hunter must enter the same accelerated mode. And to enter the accelerated mode, the hunter must also become tiny in size. Even smaller than a tiny witch!

Before becoming a hunter, each candidate undergoes difficult training and takes a final exam. The exam is a fight with virtual tiny witches, as close to reality as possible.

The gameplay of the game is the final exam that the main character goes through.

At the moment, three levels of the game are completely finished (except for the images for the cutscenes). Enemy characters for the fourth level have been fully created, so this week and the beginning of next week, I will be finishing the creation of the fourth level. In the fourth level, I decided to make two locations.

After completing the fourth level, I will need to make the fifth level, which contains three locations. Let me remind that all the locations have already been created and added to the game.

After fully completing the creation of all the locations, I will need to create five bosses. And at the final stage, I will need to create all the images for the cutscenes.

Unfortunately, as I said earlier, I cannot create a working build of the game. The game is created on the Construct 3 engine, access to the full functionality of which is provided by a monthly (or annual) paid subscription. Now I am working in the free version, which does not allow creating an independent game build. Since my financial situation is very difficult, I decided not to spend money on a subscription until the game is completely finished.

I really hope that I will be able to complete and publish the game by the fall of this year.

Currently, you can check out the demo version of the initial version of the game, available on my Itch page. And patrons can download the latest published working build of the initial version of the game. To reiterate, all game mechanics have been preserved.
