FAMILIA WE ARE SO EXCITED TO BE STARTING ROOKIE KING WITH YOU FINALLY!!
We've been Army's since 2018 and are now finally getting around to BTS' first reality show that was aired back in September 2013!!
We know many of you guys have been waiting for us to react to this and we appreciate your patience so much!
We also have some Army familia members who have not seen this series yet, we are very excited to be watching this for the first time together! :)
The first episode was already amazing! We wonder what more is in store....

2021-03-06 19:24:20 +0000 UTC- the towel thing - it's just a thing in Korea - when you go to the sauna, you need your towel near at hand at all times, but you want it to remain dry, so the easiest way is to fold it into cute sheep horns and wear them on your head like a fashion accessory (Koreans, both male and female, love cute things ^^) - sikhye - pronounced "sheek heh" - sweet rice drink, with bits of rice actually in the drink - drunk often in the summer, or in saunas to rehydrate - for the punishment, they added salt and vinegar - those aren't actually a normal part of the drink xD - acupressure massage - it is SERIOUSLY painful - it feels like they go directly for the most painful parts of your body and squeeze out every drop of pain possible - it's supposed to improve circulation

2021-03-06 19:11:19 +0000 UTC- excitement for watermelon - fruits in Korea can be on the pricey end, and is considered a luxury food item, so, for the boys to get watermelon was a special treat (fun fact, watermelons from a special region in the mountains (Mt. Mudeung) of Gwangju are specialized and specially grown, and can cost upwards of $300 per melon - that's why the boys asked Hobi if he'd ever had one of those, and that he should bring some home for them after visiting home during one of the cruises in Bon Voyage) - Yoongi and the elevator button competition - in Korea, when you hit a floor on the elevator, it doesn't lock you in - if you press it a second time, it will cancel the first press, so you're not actually forced to go to every floor if someone (like a child, or a distraught crying QF - questionable female) comes in and mashes all the floors - Taehyung's elevator ghost - just like the urban legend in the US of going to the bathroom and chanting Bloody Mary in the mirror, there is a similar urban legend concerning a murderous female ghost in the elevator, so he was truly scared of the whole thing, which is why his reactions to the prank were far shorter than the other boys', and we saw very little of what actually took place - he was actually scared, and the editors cut all that out for him

I bet you guys would think some punishments were on the harsh side. Anyway it’s been a while since I’ve watched this. My favorite part would probably be when they opened their hearts to Bang PD and the staff/air our their comlaints/grievances and ending with Namjoon saying something that actually happened few years down the road.

You’ll see that poor Jimin and Yoongi are very unlucky for the whole show! Lol Yes, Jin was much quieter and Yoongi was so loud! Lol interesting how they’re personalities seemed to have switched.

The boys have always been good, kind, funny people and that has never changed. I think the editing on the two series is a little cringe-y but it's hard to judge that because it is very typical of Korean entertainment so it feels very western-centric to call it cringe. Anyway, again, to each their own. But I think it's really important background and I'm so glad they're watching it. They've expressed the desire to go back and see Bangtan at their roots. This is how you do it. Watching it with your own eyes.

It's actually great to watch a few times over cause the subtitles are all over the place and you miss a lot of funny lines the first time. These boys have always been so funny and great natural entertainers. The next episode has what is, in my opinion one of the most savage burns in Bangtan history that Joon lays on Taehyung. But I didn't catch it til the second time around. During the cooking portion, the subtitles, their dialogue, and the captions of their names while they're talking to the camera are all really funny but hard to see all at once. They do End Plate King (the card game) almost every episode. Lots of punishments and pain. I'm sure parts of it were unpleasant but it really feels like stuff a group of brothers would do anyway. They seem to have a fun time with it. :) Plus, it's my understanding that this sort of humor is a pretty common staple in Korean entertainment. They've pranked each other a lot. JK's and Hobi's bday pranks, the notorious AHL prank...so I think they went into it knowing what to expect and being good sports about it.

LOL these types of punishments are very common in korean variety shows. Flicks on the forehead, cracking eggs, beating their head with a toy hammer, and tons of other painful acts. They are completely normal in korean variety shows as punishments so I guess thats why I wasnt shocked. Like the majority of shows emphasize "suffering" as punishments. Ive seen some harsh punishments and these are nothing compared to those. Also to put it in perspective, these guys grew up on watching those types of variety shows so they too are used to that type of humor in punishments. LOL anyways, just tip of advice, get used to seeing punishments this series xD

Also, can't choose a especific episode because I don't remember anymore in which episode the things happen lol, but I really like next episode where they cook and play basketball and the episode they do karaoke and bowling (i think they happen in different episodes but well, idk it's been so long since I watched it!!)
