AHSOKA 1X04 EXTENDED REACTION

EXTENDED REACTION PART +9MIN, ONE DAY OF ADVANCE, NO ADDS

LINK : https://e.pcloud.link/publink/show?code=XZjsC2ZJ4l8d6BJto0e8M4ICw1CdkxfStVV

Hello !

This episode had a lot of moments of action, and clearly, with the bad mood I had, it was perfect : I was fully invested all along, I felt everything in an intense way, I was entertained, I was shocked ! I planned that the villains would find the coordinates and would escape right on time, but other things… First, Ahsoka, did she really kill Marrock right there ? And what happened during that moment ?

And, for sure, Sabine's choice… We knew that she would have to make one after the discussion she had with Ahsoka, about Ezra, about her loyalty. But I didn't expect at all for her to decide to give the map : for sure, she thought of Ezra, but she knew that here, not only she gave the map, but she truly helped them, she had to go with them after them, and it was a betrayal not only to Ahsoka, but to all she fought for, everyone. It was shocking for me when I just met her, so I can't imagine it for you guys… The end with Anakin was perfect, and it promises that the next episode is gonna be amazing.

I'm still french, so I'm still sorry if my english hurts you.

AHSOKA 1X04 EXTENDED REACTION

Yes, I think it was a good choice for the story but also for the characters. Like you say, it's a way to have people meeting her again (or, like me, for the first time).

I think it's a mix of a lot of things : she decided to give the map to him, it's a real choice, we can deny it, and like for all choices in life, it can't be dictated by only one thing. The main reason is Ezra for sure, she has him in mind since the beginning, he's the reason why she accepted that mission, the conversation just before with Ahsoka proves again that she would do anything for finding him. Another reason can be that here, she's a little forced to accept because she can't win against them both and she wants to be sure to go with them, to know where they go, but she was hesitating already before Ahsoka falling, so it's not the main reason.

I'm really glad this episode was able to take your mind off the situation you were facing back then and that it made you happy for at least a little bit in that moment.

I think it's also important to consider that from her point of view Baylan killed ahsoka. she just lost someone very very important to her. yes when she was alone and no one else was there she choose to not follow ahsoka's orders. BUT that was hardly a split second choice. She didn't just hand it over 5 seconds after he asked her for the map. she had over 2 minutes to go over everything in her mind. Sabine isn't a dummy. she likey considered every angle in front of her before she finally made her choice. I think in the end she choose the plan that had the best outcome for everyone. further more look at her face when baylan destorys the map. I dont know if she had a plan to fix things, but the map being destoryed definitely hampered whatever she might have been thinking. look at the way she kept turning back to look at the map like she can't believe he did that. again she can't stop the bad guys if she is dead, but alive and with ezra's help she has a chance. OH i just thought of something else. Morgan is a witch. no one really knows what she can do with her witch powers, even those of use who watched clone wars. Sabine knows this, Ahsoka told her in episode 1. so lets assume she does shoot it. baylan kills her. then morgan comes back and uses her nightsister magick to potentially restore the map. again sabine doesn't know what she might do and or even if baylan could stop her from shooting it, he is obviously a very strong former jedi. either way Sabine and everyone loses and there is no one there to try to stop them. at least saying alive gives her a chance to fight back

to be fair i think Dave Filoni purposfully choose to make this show take place 10 years after the end of rebels. why? because people can change a lot in 10 years so even those of use who used to know sabine when she was 16-20 might not know the now 30 year old sabine who has obviously gone through a lot in the 10 years since we last saw her. so in a way it evens things out between those who knew her in rebels and people like you who are meeting her for the first time. those of us who used to know her might have an edge but at the same time she is different because again 10 years have gone by

The other person is Marrok. He is/was an inquisitor like you see in the Kenobi show. Their most notable feature is their lightsaber all of which have that built in spinning feature. He was not a second padawan to Baylan. Inquisitors as you saw on kenobi were under the Grand inquisitor and Vader. But note the lightsaber colors. Marrok had a red saber while Shin and Baylan have an orange color. Red has always meant evil in star wars. orange is new to canon but it is very close color wise to red, but still not quite red. I believe that is a metaphor for us to tell us that they are near the line of being evil and we have seen that when they killed everyone on the ship to rescue but Morgan but at the same time they aren't fully there. you see that if the captain hadn't stopped baylan he would have walked past everyone and made his way to morgan and presumably tried to use a jedi mind trick to leave without having to kill anyone. he obviously doesn't want to kill anyone if he doesn't have to but he will if he must. and well you saw what inquisitors were like in the kenobi show even amongst themselves they bad. sadly we dont really get to know much if anything about him.

To be fair to Sabine, I don't know that she really had a choice. Sabine was struggling to be an even match for shin and that is with her mandalorian armor and gadgets. She just witnessed this guy seemingly kill Ahsoka, her MASTER. if she seemed like she might actually be able to destroy it, he could simply pull it out of her hands with the force. if he wanted to, he could easily kill her. in her mind she must have asked herself if it was ahsoka, could i destroy this before she could pull it away from me or push me away from it? I don't think she would have answered yes to that question and she's dealing with someone who managed to beat her. someone who seems to now a lot about her stuff that he probably shouldn't be able to know. for example we dont know what happened in regards to mandalore. so lets assume that everything he said is exactly true. this is something that occured between master and apprentice, and from what they speak about in episode 1 it seems ahsoka may have choosen not to go to mandalore. there almost certainly wouldn't have been anyone else around to know what was said between them, likely while they were on their ship. so how would he know about that? he shouldn't. that would have likely been a HUGE RED FLAG for her that this guy is something else. So yes she choose to hand it over. one choice meant certain death and she couldnt' be sure that she would be able to destroy it before he saved. The other choice meant that she lives, and that she would be taken to Ezra. Ezra the person who found a way to defeat Thrawn once (as was said in episode 1) and who could probably do so again. the choice is obvious to anyone. Choose to live and try to beat the bad guys later when you have an ally who can help you defeat them. people will say that Sabine's answer was obvious not because of what i said above because of Ezra. but i don't agree 100% to that. yes it played a part, but not the whole part. i think baylan was smart. He too has an apprentice and we saw just a few minutes later that sometimes padawans don't act in ways the master wants them to but eventually with some prodding they come in line. Shin obviously didn't want to stop chocking Sabine but an insistent stern word got her to back off. Baylan heard Ahsoka tell her to destroy the map and Sabine quickly changed her target from him to the map. she didn't follow through, thats true but she obeyed quickly enough to essentially threat the map. I think Baylan is smart enough to know that if Ahsoka is still alive and present she would get sabine to destroy the map. So he removed her from the equation, despite Sabine essentially threatening to destroy the map if he didn't let her go. note he hadn't yet used his psychic powers on her just yet. he didn't know how she might react but he knew that if Ahsoka was still there she would eventually do as her master commanded her and destory the map. that is why he tried to kill her given the situation they were in. one last point. Although she wouldn't have known at the time, if Sabine had tried to destory the map, she would have failed. Baylan had to plunge his lightsaber into the map for several seconds to destroy it and by destroy it. her shooting it wouldn't have likely even dented it, which again means that he would have taken the map and then killed her and the bad guy would have won for sure.

Since yesterday, I have a functional air system and a new fridge... I cross my fingers, still now, like with all issues I had, I want to wait for sunday before being like "it's okay, body, mind, you can all relax" 😅😊

Hello Laura! This was definitely a cool episode with a really unexpected ending. I was shocked, when i heard " Hello Snips." Anakin called Ahsoka "Snips" while she was his Padawan, because of her snippy and maddening attitude. I think Sabine's betrayal was predictable, but I am more interested in Baylans character developement, because he was a Jedi and still seems to have honor. Anyways, I hope you have a better fridge now and that your air system finally works again after the guy repaired it a second time. Don't worry, life will get better❤
