Bakugo, in his own weird way, wanted the same as Deku : for Todoroki to use his full power, to be fully himself, so the fight would be really fair and between two equal opponents. But I can understand that for Todoroki, it's too soon to accept that part of himself, that he's just beginning that work on himself. And that's why I loved the end of this episode, him visiting his mom for the first time. Because the truth can help him to find himself, to be sure of what his past was and his future can be.
I really thought that Iida's brother was already dead, so I was weirdly glad that he was just badly hurt. But the impact is gonna be the same on Iida in my opinion, he's gonna want to go on a revenge path, and it can't be good. I don't want to see a Dark Iida, I want for him to stay who he is, with his values and principles.

They are kids, they're gonna progress, they're gonna evolve, even more because some have issues they need to work on, and I love that the anime lets them the time to do it, to see the problem, to process it, and then maybe to take decisions and to try to do things to work on it. Love it !

The show recognizes that they're just high school kids who will need to grow not just in their powers, but also in their person. There are a lot of other animes where the protagonists are all high schoolers but have powers to rival gods. So I really appreciate this show's tendency to really bring us along for the characters' journey and growth. I am looking forward to you reaching those points of character development. :)

Like, in the past people would just always acknowledge him to be the best, but since coming to UA, he's had so much doubt on whether or not he is in fact the best and now really wants to prove *to himself* that he absolutely is.

2023-06-23 02:44:09 +0000 UTCI think the best part of this episode is Bakugo holding Todoroki by the collar begging and pleading with him. I think it goes beyond simply wanting to fight Todoroki at full power. I think for Bakugo it is deeply personal, that his sense of self and identity is tied to having to be the best, and if someone doesn't let him prove he is, or doesn't acknowledge him as worthy of doing everything in their power to fight him, he crumbles into despair. A narcissist is different, as they mostly care about how they are seen. For Bakugo he doesn't mind if people find him irritating so long as he sees himself as on the road to be the best. He creates walls for himself to climb to make himself stronger like when he angered everyone at the opening speech. I wouldn't say nothing else matters to him, but like All Might said at the end, not many people can live constantly measuring themselves against an ideal the way Bakugo does. I'm not saying it's a healthy way to live though. I wouldn't call Bakugo mentally or socially healthy :D But he is consistent to his character, his goals are real to him, which is good writing.
