This episode was not for Joel and Ellie, not really. What happened to them ? They walked, they talked, they gathered stuff and took a car to go on a journey we already guessed before this episode. No, here, everything was made for Bill and Franck. And I loved it. All of it.
We had all of their story, from how one created this safe place, how they met, how they fell in love, how they lived, how they were together and with strangers, how they survived, and how they died. I didn't know I would cry that much. In the third episode of a new show. And for characters I didn't even know before. And for me, it's a good sign : because it means these writers know how to write characters and relationships, emotional scenes… And even more because I can suppose all of that was not in the original game.

Hello ! Same feeling here : she lied when she said she was all by herself at the mall, she answered weirdly when they asked her if she had a boyfriend, she "played" to the game here saying one of her friends knew the story of it and all... My guess for now : she went with a friend, someone she loved (maybe in secret, maybe as a couple), to the mall and that person died. She ran away from the military school not only because she was infected and afraid to be discovered, but also maybe because she felt guilty.

2023-01-31 12:00:45 +0000 UTCI've never played the game so I don't know the story, but I get a strong feeling that Ellie is insanely angry at the infected zombies bc they killed a friend or S.O. of hers in the mall she snuck into when she got bit. I think that's why she angrily stabs the zombie in this episode. Also, you can tell she was lying to Tess in a previous episode when she asked Ellie if she was alone at the mall. On another note, I was blown away to see such a lovely romance in the middle of an apocalypse. If that's how good the stories are for side characters, I can't wait to see what happens with Joel and Ellie.

I guessed it for the fact this episode was not into the game, but yes I'm interested to know what are the changes between the game and the show for their story (if it doesn't impact the rest of the episodes, of the story). Feel free to share 😊 I don't like spoilers about the game before things are happening or discovered into one episode, but once they adapted a part of the game in the show, I'm okay to know what the fans thought of that part adapted, the changes and all.

There is the original 2013 The Last Of Us, The Last of Us: Left Behind (DLC for the first game, I think this will be included in Season 1), and The Last of Us Part II. They have already confirmed Season 2, which is likely just the second game. Personally I loved both Part 1 and the DLC 10/10. Part 2 however was quite controversial and polarizing. Some people hated it, some loved it as much as the first game, but I think I actually Part II might be better as a show, so I will be curious enough to watch it at least. 3:10 I didn't dislike Tess's death, I think it was fine. However I think the game had you connect to her more beforehand. She was a bit more of a badass and had more moments, so it didn't hit me as hard in the show. I had mixed feelings about this episode at first. I knew it was an amazing stand alone episode to non-game-fans, but this is definitely the most different episode from the game so far and a very different ending to Bill and Frank. A lot of things added but also some things missing, and other stuff completely changed. But after some thought this was done very beautiful, more detailed back story for Bill and a bit more of a happier ending. I would like to possibly explain the major change with how it was in the game, I am just not sure how you feel about game-spoilers (With stuff already happened in show so far of course) in case you were to either play the game or watch a game cutscene compilation in the future. So let me know if you would like some detail and game comparisons or not.
