Hello !
I was surprised by this Disney movie : it was not a musical one, but it was clearly one totally written and built around the messages they wanted to share with kids watching it. And they are good ones ! We have an entire narrative arc around the harassment you can suffer when you're a kid, no matter what kind it is. The fact it impacts you for life, with Judy who decides to use it to give herself more strength and Nick who is going in the bad path because of it. The conclusion being that the bully can understand his/her mistake and apologize at some point, and that no matter what, the victim can try to not let that change who he/she is and still "try to make the world a better place".
Another big message all along this movie is surely about racism, and in fact all kinds of discriminations. They created it around the shops who decide to not serve people because they are not big enough, around the predators who are always considered as dangerous, around the little woman considered as inferior to the big male who roars loader etc. And with all of these situations, we see all of the discriminations, according to your se*, your appearance, the color of your skin etc.
Special PS : for the sloths moment, which is one of my biggest laughs of the month.

I think that it's a really adult animated movie in fact, that it might be for kids after 8/9yo and for the adults coming with them. A lot of references and jokes can be nice for kids but even more fun for the adults 😂 But no matter what, it deserves to be watched, the message is great 😊

2022-12-31 12:46:45 +0000 UTCMan, I love this movie. It deserves more love than it got. I loved the pacing of this and how they unraveled the story. At some point, the twist was predictable, but it didn't need to be mind blowing to still be effective. And you're right, the messaging of the movie is just so good. I like Judy's lesson in the end in how it's always important to try. And yes, I believe that was a Breaking Bad reference. :)))
