Hello !

I think you all expected to see me crying during this final episode, because I talked a lot during this entire show about how much I loved Lyra and Will's love for each other. Even me, I was prepared for that. To see that true, real, pure love being broken like that when it just began, after these two saved the world and finally found peace and opened their hearts to each other, dared to express their love. Mary was the Serpent because she talked to them about how she dared to love, to live, and that's what they did.

But I was not ready for the reveal I had watching this story I know by heart on screen. See, I said it a lot, I read the books a lot, but when I was young, so I was heartbroken for Lyra and Will, and I didn't pay enough attention to what Mary and Serafina were saying, to what this end was showing also. Yes, they are destroyed to be separated, and as the soulmates that they are, they're gonna be reunited in death, they'll find each other again. But they're gonna experience love again. Another kind of love. It can't be as vibrant as what first/true love is, but they'll meet people who are gonna make them open their hearts again to love. I saw that conclusion with adult's eyes and it blew up my mind for a few minutes. Yes this end is symbolic for the biblical situation, yes they had a pure and true love and were soulmates, but for souls who lost their soulmates like them this end also teaches the lesson that you can dare to love after that, to have full lives.

This adaptation of the books was maybe not perfect for the hardcore fans, but it was perfect for me. I had everything I wanted and even more than that. All of the casting was perfect, the representation of this universe was amazing, the pictures and the musics were beautiful, and they translated all of the big and little moments. It made me sad a lot, because I think it's surely the last time I have a book I loved so much as a kid being adapted so well on screen, I might never have that sweet feeling again.
