Hello !

The first chapters of the third book terrified me, but also disturbed me a lot as a kid, and I tried to explain to you why in review : I hated Mrs Coulter with all of my heart, but to understand and see she does all of these awful things to her daughter because she truly loves her, but such in a wrong way, making her prisoner, because she doesn't want her to be hurt but also because she doesn't want her to grow up, to have her life because it's not the one she wants for her… To understand as a kid that someone who loves you can do bad stuff to you in the name of that love, it shocked me, I was disgusted, I was disturbed, I was feeling physically bad, and you just have to see me reacting to these scenes as an adult and trying to understand all of that in review, to see it.

For a regular viewer, maybe this first episode can feel a little slow with the characters not evolving a lot. But as a reader of the books, I think it's a really good one : the first scene is a good call, to tell everyone the context but also to remind that right here, the story is not gonna be with "religious subtitles" anymore, it's gonna be biblical situations. All of the characters are confronted to it, with Will meeting these Angels, with Asriel convincing people to join him in this war, with the Magisterium trying to find the new Eve…
