Hello !

Finishing this episode, I was already feeling sad for Tennyson : yes, he cheated by cutting his vocal cords to be sure to win this bet, but he was forced to accept it, in front of everyone, because he needed money so much. He was truly desperate and the Colonel knew it from the beginning, played with it, he acted like the honorable guy but he wanted to humiliate Tennyson, and he never gave up, he continued with his lies, knowing he couldn't pay, and he became even more cruel by playing with his mind.

But editing the episode, I felt even more that the Colonel only did that to prove himself to the other ones, and how bad it is. He was himself in a bad financial position and, looking at Tennyson who was the same but was asking for help, he chose to denigrate him. In front of money issues, they acted differently. In front of that bet, they acted the same, they fought for their honor. Both trying to cheat. But again, one was just desperate when the other one was just crual.
