Hello !

I predicted it in intro, the three things we would see and how I would react to it. These facts being predictable and a regular fan like me knowing in advance what wouldn't work on me, it's weird, no ? I don't think everyone feels like me (on the contrary, most of the time I have the impression to be the only one to have some), but for me it's a proof the writers had the process wrong. The scenes and how they were filmed were amazing all along the season, the characters and the relationships were well built, the stories were interesting but the process of writing was bad.

It was cool to see the Forge, and I didn't expect to already have rings so that was a good surprise. All of the Stranger narrative arc was based on the mystery around his identity… the fact we guessed since the first second it was him, it makes the reveal of this episode not so good. Even if I loved that moment and it clearly worked on me, just see my smile and then my big tears. Halbrand being revealed as being Sauron, it's not a surprise : we knew Sauron's background, we saw what Halbrand did. But I blame the process around it : at the end, looking at Halbrand, I want to roll my eyes and treat him as an asshole and a traitor. I should NEVER feel like that about Sauron. I want to be impressed, afraid, excited, to see him. No matter what, count on me for season 2, this show looks so good, the stories are interesting and I want to follow these characters I already love.

I'm still french, so I'm still sorry if my english hurts you.

THE RINGS OF POWER 1X08 EXTENDED REACTION

Comments

Three main narrative arcs, really interesting and promising. But two of them built as mysteries when all viewers guessed the solution since episodes. The construction of the season is bad, but the characters and the stories were good. For me, the main issue, it's really a question of how to write the process of a story, from point A to point B.

Great analysis of season 1. I had to think a bit about why this finale felt off to me. I think it's basically because the resolutions of the 2 main arcs came out of nowhere. SauBrand had nothing do with mithril or elven decline before episode 7, neither did the 3 mystics with the Strangalf. Just, poof! and then suddenly, "I'm good" or "I have many names"...
