The first scenes of the episode were so cool and really, we know with it that we're back into The Boys. In another writing room, if someone would have said "let's make a lilliputian supe who is gonna go into the intimate part of someone else, sneeze and make that person explode from the inside'', people would have laughed but would have never done it. In The Boys writing room, the other writers cheered and went insane "yeees, and he would try to reach Frenchie's butt, but we're gonna win by making him swim into drugs". This show can make insane scenes, weird and awful at the same time, and create something exciting with it.
This first episode was a good introduction : we have a time jump, our guys are living their lives like that for a long time and clearly, some things are not ok. Hughie seems to have a perfect life but not that much, and in fact, everything can go wrong really quick. Butcher is close to Ryan but doesn't know how to have a normal life. MM is trying to have that normal life but he's lying to himself. Homelander's popularity went really down with Stormfront's story last season, Vought is letting him behind and he has to share the captain's seat.
