I remember having this problem last year, where I got frustrated with not being able to hammer out the scenarios as fast as I'd like, and trying to push it too hard. The best approach is not to panic and just keep chipping away.
(Pussy Smotherer Succubus)
Both the 1st draft and typing up are nearly done here. She should be quite a fun scenario. She's a little different in she's quite forceful on the player needing to pleasure her, which is different to my usual succubi.

This got a little stop-starty, which was why I went back to working on Pussy Smotherer. I've got a good chunk written and typed up. Just need to get a better handle on the scenes. It's a lukewarm fetish for me - I don't find it as hot as facesitting or boobsmothering, but it shows up enough I felt I should try and fit a harlot in that catered to that fetish. And the game mechanic idea I have for her should be a nice gotcha the first time around.
I also miscounted, so there is an extra slot or two I can fill for this group. A smother blob seems likely. Another idea I'd like to work in is some form of kiss smotherer - maybe she sucks the air out when she kisses. The House could do with a few more kissing specialists, so I'd like to see if I can make that work.
There are couple of things I'm a little concerned about. I do seem to be shedding a few patrons from the high of 400 about a month ago. That could just be a consequence of having a few slower months after the really productive months at the start of the year (I wish I could always work at that pace, but it just isn't possible). One of the exit comments did mention they felt the game had become dull and boring. I received a similar comment on my blog. Also, the response to the public demo has been a lot quieter than I was hoping. (Admittedly, the current website is the bare minimum to get the thing up and running and I really could do with commissioning some artwork to brighten that site up). This is where I have to think about QoL improvements and consider what might not be working.
There are some things I'm aware of.
Not being able to skip the Barman's starting dialogue is a pretty bad mistake. I'm still working on a fast restart option to correct this.
Another thing I do understand is people's frustrations with new harlots seeming 'samey' as I'm focusing on individual factions and they tend to be grouped around shared themes and fetishes, which is probably a drag if that fetish leaves you cold and would rather see other kinks covered. I will try to cover (nearly) everything, but there will be periods where there is glut of harlots sharing similar themes (as happened with the succufairies).
These are things I am aware of. But there might be annoyances I've missed. So this seems a good opportunity to throw it open and ask what it is you find most annoying about the current demo version and would like to see changed. Can't guarantee I will, as I have a strong idea of what I want, but if I get 10 comments saying the same thing sucks, maybe I need to look at modifying it!

On the vision front, I'll likely stick to my guns for the simple reason I find it hard to write things that don't interest me as much. The girls will always be as scary as they are sexy, even though I know some people would rather they were less deadly. I know with the girls, some are going to be hits and some are going to be misses, and that will vary from person to person. As long as there is a good variety of them, that shouldn't be a problem. The release schedule will chunk up around certain themes as I do them all together. I just ask people to be patient there. I will get to the other monster girl types and fetishes. I'm not too worried about the harlots. The variety will get there and some will be expanded beyond single scenarios to add more lore and story. The base game mechanics/game loop not working is the real fear. If that's driving people off before they can have fun with the sexy stuff, I'll need to make some modifications.

Otherwise, please stay true to your art and story before accommodating to the fan-fetishes, MG preferences, etc of us mercurial fans. If you try to appease everyone, I worry may lose your story-based/longer term fans as the cohesive and immersive story stretches and fractures to accommodate fan preferences. Sheep and fairy girl for instance while popular, are immersion killers as, imo the HoH universe's lore simply doesn't have a foundation for those high fantasy kind of hybrids. But again, that is a fan-opinion, so please, just do what you feel best about!

2021-07-22 06:24:32 +0000 UTCIt's the one mechanic I think I will add, but haven't put in the game yet. I would like there to be some form of random events. Some of them will help or hinder the player. Some will open up specific storylines for a run. I was thinking of how the player might interact with the car NPCs. The puzzle-block Atlus game "Catherine" had a bar segment where you talk to other patrons suffering nightmares from a succubus. Depending on how the player interacted determined if some of the NPCs survived the next night. I'm not sure how to fit that in - maybe by expanding the post-room segment. Having patrons give their names to NPCs is a very good idea. That's something I could offer as a higher tier reward once I get to the point of needing more money to fund artwork. For this game I think it would be fairly minor. I think a crystal-ball-type monitor might be a good mechanic for another game idea. That would offer a much better integration of gameplay and story. The main problem with the Bad Ends is they end the game (HoHH gets around this to some extent by the player being able to have sex and walk out under the right conditions). A way to get around this is to have the Bad Ends be happening to other NPCs and the player's role is to observe and gather information from each Bad End. (I already have a setting where this would fit right in...)

Anna Boa was the first example. I have a few ideas sketched out. I think one was for a hyper-athletic bunny girl, who is quite pleasant, but will utterly tire the player out. One of their mini-bosses will likely be the slime girl mentioned on one of the charm descriptions. That will be a wrestling show in front of an audience of harlots.

You can add the possibility that new NPC "Men" will arrive at the mansion from time to time in a random way which have no idea what the hell happens with this place, they can also ask you for some advice or help. Several options can come out and choose if you want to help them pass X scenario or lead them to certain death Why would you lead them to certain death? It could be simply for pleasure, or because you will get some reward from the succubus that will eat it, also if the player is under mental control of some succubus, only the negative options could come out and thus you could not help him. At the moment the player sends the poor guy to certain death, there could be a kind of monitor, crystal ball or whatever, in which you see how that guy dies while a succubus blames you and mocks you with his words for having it betrayed. In this way you can write scenarios where the player does not interact You can put a meter of good and bad actions, and as you have more points in any of the 2 different things happen to the player, that is, if you have sent many NPCs to their death, X things will happen to you They are just quick ideas, surely you can get something out of here and apply it better. PD: Random NPC Names Could Be Ours Example: a guy named Jimmy The other player will know if he wants to send me to a sexy death hahahaha

Hahaha The girls type Arachne, plant, slime etc ... are very good and I love it! But when they are very strange I do not like much hehe With my previous comment I didn't want to say "I want all of them to look more human!" or something like that, I don't know if I make myself understood lol ... They may look more "normal" but are not less dangerous for that. I suggest that more than their appearance you can make them very powerful and intimidating, that they see the player simply as food and want to torture him with pleasure, that they have mental abilities or similar, let's say one that erases your memories Example: You have acquired a key and now you have forgotten it and must obtain it again. Obviously you would have to create random passwords. Another case would be a succubus that attacks you in a moment of rest, while you sleep or something like that. You are the writer at the end of the day and it's just a few vague ideas that occur to me. PD: I would like to see a stage with an athletic succubus and that the event takes place in a Gym

If I get it right, it should be a game people can play through multiple times with slightly different stories each time rather than a long linear RPG. Unfortunately, that idea is less good for the incremental releases I'm doing. That's going to seem like a lot of unrelated harlot encounters with some questlines added later. I do want to add more mini-questlines, such as the repeat visits with Mamilla leading to her taking the player out of the House to be a more permanent plaything.

I like the game and the scenarios are fun. But I wonder if you really need to add as many new girls as you’re planning to, *especially* because you’re thinking about them in factions, which will create some similarities.

But with quite curious abilities, example: I really liked the one who had abilities with the Dream and her appearance was a mystery This is just my personal opinion...

2021-07-19 21:07:38 +0000 UTCGood points on the RNG. There is a problem with the harlots not being sorted by difficulty at the moment. The selection algorithm does take into account round ranges where the harlots are supposed to appear, but every harlot is currently set to have the full range. This can lead to some combinations in the first round that are not survivable, which would likely be off-putting for new players. What I'll do is take the nastiest harlots (the ones that need charms to survive) and push their starting round back to round 4. This should give the player a couple of rounds of 'nicer' harlots to have fun with before the 'killers' show up. Handling charms is tricky. The current implementation assumes the full game, where the runs are going to have a slight rogue-lite element where what charms the player picks up early will determine which group of harlots they should focus for that run. This doesn't work so well for the shorter demo. I might look into adding an option for the player to buy a charm of choice for a mulligan token (similar to the option for picking a harlot). This won't be in the final version, but should be a nice QoL feature until i get there.

2021-07-19 11:21:16 +0000 UTCI'm not sure the succufairies example is the appropriate one: they cover quite a few fetishes, between anal, "vaginal" soul-sucking, facesitting, smothering, bondage, prostate massage (and I may have overlooked some), so while the core mechanic is the same, the array of fetishes is one of the widest you ever had in a single release. I guess it always depends on how one classifies the harlots into categories. One of the main issues I see is the lack of a compendium that would allow new players (and players that might be returning after a time) to clearly see everything the House has to offer. The House has grown substantially, and it may be difficult to keep track of everything. The harlots' names and appearances are not always obviously linked to a particular fetish, so a recorder and/or guide might be useful, though it would mean that some players might never experiment the full scope of what the House has to offer and will catter to what they think is interesting rather than broaden their horizons... I know this particular idea has already been discussed in previous comments, but I guess it doesn't hurt to get it here also. The high rng might also be detrimental in the long run (and may be a reason people get "bored"), especially regarding harlot selection/charms availability combinations that are sometimes quite ... "tricky" to get. A potential fix would be to allow Mulligan tokens to work for the charms dealer more or less the same way it works for the harlots, allowing players to buy the charm they want instead of it being pure rng. The rng element is not bad in itself, but it may be badly perceived by some players and prevent them from enjoying the game to its full extent. That's the two main issues I see currently. PS: the kiss smother succubus sounds cool! as do the other smotheresses you are currently working on!

The main problem I have with my stories for the mind control kink is that when the succubi do it, it's usually so subtle the person being controlled doesn't realise it's happening. Which is nice for realism, but doesn't really hit the spot for people that like that fetish. In the game it should be more obvious. The PoV isn't so tight there. (One of the ideas is for a harlot where if you socialise with her, she hypnotises/puts you under a spell and then becomes a force pick for that round.)
