I've implemented all the 'fleshing out' passages. This is adding some flesh to the bare bones of the main game loop of - present 3 harlots, go away to think, go back to pick a harlot, pick a gift, go to her room, etc. This was just a skeleton to test the core loop. Now it has the same level of detail as everything else (aside from the main Action phase as that's still waiting on the Barman passages).
I reworked the Madam's Tour to add a new succubus character, Temptacia, to give the player a taste of what's to come. That solves some of the problems with tone I was having. This scene reveals there are non-human succubi in the House and why entering one of their rooms might seem like a risk worth taking (Temptacia is very tempting).
It did add another thousand or so words and knocked me off track for the week, but I think it fixes some of the problems I was having. Some of the suggestions people made in the comments were also pretty good. I'll keep them in mind if I find I need to go back and change things.
The Madam's tour is a little long at 3K+ words. I'm possibly indulging my fiction writing side a little too much. I did add a skip option, so maybe it's okay. It is all implemented and tested now, and just needs to be plugged in.
I'd been pushing the harlot updates back and decided to fix that this week. Queen Colubridis and Calliophi have their interactions with the 'true-seeing' charm written. I also standardised some of the stat checks to incorporate ailments and charms. A few other harlots had a few tweaks to add interactions with some of the charms. I'm now nearly done on this with only 3 outstanding. One of those, Cibi Somnia, will likely not get fully updated until a later release. While I was thinking up negative status effects charms could protect against, I forgot sleep. I'll likely add that at a later date and update Cibi accordingly.
Unfortunately, the Madam Tour rewrites and remembering I needed to update the remaining harlots did throw a spanner in my plans. I wasn't able to get a good run on typing up Hookah Caterpillar harlot. She's up to 2.5K words, but probably has another 1K to go.
This means things are going to be very tight for the March release. I'm going to push the Barman's section into April. Even then it might be tight. I wanted to use a conversation the player has with the NPCs at the start to be a stealth character creator, but writing that has proven very fiddly and is still outstanding. This might push that part of the intro into April as well.
So, expect a slightly scrappy v0.017 release. I think I tried to do too many different things at once this month and inadvertently scrambled my brains.
Because I'm in full deadline panic mode, I'm also a little behind on responding to comments and emails. I'll try to get caught up next week.
