Hentai Game Review - Succubus Academia
Added 2021-03-19 17:03:15 +0000 UTCMy after-work-hours leisure time this week saw me playing naughty rather than regular videogames. I liked Succubus Academia enough to write a review of it to put on my blog. I think it should be of enough interest to x-post here:

I wish I could hire artists this talented! There are some really gorgeous succubi in this game.
Also, thanks Wakozi, if you're here. I think it's your guide I used from the ULMF forums.
Uh, do you happen to know how to get past the notorious succubi the second time around? :D

Textractor. I think I found it mentioned in the translation subforum. It uses Bing, I think, so the quality of machine translation is pretty poor, but everything else I've tried just gets blocked or becomes unusable.

2021-03-21 11:58:51 +0000 UTCIf I might ask, what hook/translation software did you use and what order? I've been looking at the ulmf page and can't seem to create a hookable version using Translator++.

2021-03-20 21:24:58 +0000 UTCI don't know. My concerns are over the language barrier with Japanese artists. Commissioning work for personal use is different than commissioning work for potential commercial use. Or maybe it isn't and I'm overthinking it! :D I find Western monster girl/succubus artists to be a little too toony most of the time (nothing wrong with it, just not my preference). I'd prefer a more realistic style, but then the artists are really expensive. It is something I need to take a serious look at. I think the text and game mechanics are strong, but it won't get hardly any attention with the current level of text-only polish. I wouldn't aim for animation like in Succubus Academia as - even though it would be awesome - there are too many characters for it to be feasible. Character sprites for each of the girls is probably a decent aim. Monster Girl Dreams might be a decent example to follow. That started with just text, then found some artist(s) and started to fill in with character art.

2021-03-20 13:48:12 +0000 UTCI am curious hydra. Can't you just find a artist for your work? How expensive are the artists of more popular games like Dieselmine, monster Girl Quest? Or is the problem more that those artists dont work with smaller names? Can't imagine your creations being drawn from such skillful artists. That's the only thing keeping you away from an insanely good game!!!

2021-03-20 13:18:00 +0000 UTCSophia's thing seems to be a total energy drain. I wonder if it's linked to whether you accept energy from her kiss. I turned it down twice and she only hit me with a couple of minor drains. I think her scene might be my favourite, probably because I have an unhealthy weakness for shikibus. Succubus-chan always throws me off. I think I mixed her up with the Little Evil succubus and keep thinking of her as that flat-chested loli-type succubus I'm not that interested in. I always get surprised at how busty her design is and she looks very comfy in her first scene (for a merciless predator!). Four more to go. SQDT did a great job with this game. I'm looking forward to playing through it again when an English translation is out.

2021-03-20 01:19:09 +0000 UTCOh, look at that :D He followed my guide. The game was amazing yeah, and tbh I was also disappointed when I saw Alma Elma's first scene. But when I got to fight her the second time... damn. She immediately went from my least favorite Notorious to my most favorite one (Even though I really do like Succubus-chan... Her second scene was just not what I hoped it would be, sadly.) When it comes to your question: All the battles have a trick to them, or rather a trap. You can use the inspect ability in order to get some information on how to beat them. Succubus-chan, for example, has a stance bar that fills up over time. Once it is filled up you basically need to pass a turn (do that by using an item for example) and she will be fine. If you do "attack" her she gets bored and kills you. Sophia is more or less a super drawn out fight. Her mood bar fills extremely slowly, while she does insane damage. So you kinda need to outlast her. Alma Elma was a first try for me so dunno what her secret mechanic is, tbh. Elfriede is a "just burst her down before she kills you" fight. Important to note is that she only drains you life every 5 or so turns. Thus you can use the surrender ability without having to worry about losing life. And in the case of Fulbuea... Like I said use the inspect ability and the game tells you what to do. Glgl with the Notorious. Once you defeat them, you unlock the final boss. And believe me... Compared to her, every boss before was a cakewalk.

2021-03-19 21:14:20 +0000 UTCI've played Succubus Rhapsodia. That's another nice game with interesting art. I think I got stuck at some point and couldn't work out where to go next, so I maybe only encountered the first or second named boss - that might be why I don't remember her. The fun part of that game was evolving three succubi to their final busty form and have them go wild on the player. I might find a guide and pick that game up again.
