End of September Update

As I said in a previous post, bit of a weird month.  At the start I thought I was doing a standalone CYOA scenario (to include in future "House of Hellish Harlots"), then it turned into working on some half-finished short stories (resulting in the 1st draft of one being completed), and finally I had a burst of inspiration on what the core gameplay loop for "House of Hellish Harlots" should be.

The last one has sent me deep into the guts of Twine and tossing various objects and arrays around.  I'm primarily (or at least used to be) a C# developer, so there are a few quirks to get used to.  I've had to hack in a few gruesome workarounds that probably are not the recommended way of doing things, but things appear to be working so far.  Goal is to get the skeleton built, check the pathways through are working fine, and then start to add the lush text and sexy bits.

I got a little bit too carried away and didn't put enough time aside to get that H-space lactation succubus story typed up.  For the moment, I'm going to keep hacking away, so I hope you don't mind that.  My most frequent mistake of the past couple years is booting myself off something I'm currently hot on to work on something else out of the misguided thought that the other thing 'needed to be done.'  It's usually the difference between working 11-hours days, or grinding ineffectually through 5-hour ones, so I'll keep hammering away at this while it's red hot.  I'll probably need a break at some point to avoid burning out, and that's where I'll switch lanes to get that short story typed up.

As for the short story, I have a dilemma about some of the background.  It primarily concerns a US communication officer having to lug around antique radio equipment because the modern equivalents don't work in H-space.  Currently I'm glossing over the role of a communication specialist + what exactly they'd be lugging around that qualifies as an antique (anything from the '60s to '80s that fits the definition of something bulky but still portable enough to be carried around in a backpack).  Maybe someone out there can help with that.  Currently I'm debating between either putting the story up raw and waiting for someone to laugh at the glaring inaccuracies, or giving myself enough time to do the proper research.  (It's not that major a part of the story, so the former option is probably the one I'll go with.)

Also, Literotica's Halloween comp is looming.  I really want to get the story I started last year done.  This will largely depend on how I'm going with "House of Hellish Harlots", as I want to make as much use of "enthusiasm time" as possible. :)

As always, thanks for your continued support and interest!

Yep, that will be helpful. I've gone with the movie cliches of backpack radio and crackly, imprecise communication to set the scene. It'll likely be obvious what I'm trying to do, even if the terminology and equipment will be off to anyone familiar with that role. Just let me know if anything looks laughably off when I post the story later this month. Thanks!

I've got some experience with RF equipment and would be willing to point out any issues I find. I'm more used to 1990's or 2000's equipment, but it all works in similar fashion.

Yup. I think I should be doing that more often, if people don't mind being guinea pigs. :D It'll probably be more for specific cases though. I don't want to spoil people's enjoyments of a story by foisting an unpolished work-in-progress on them first.

You could put up the "draft" copy of the lactation Succubus story here on Patreon, and mine the comments for the inaccuracy info before fully publishing it. I think it's safe enough to say that the bulk of us won't care about a few inaccuracies as long as we get more fun draining stuff.
