ONE PIECE EPS 807/808 | WE ARE NOT OKAY! 😢😢

Comments

These episodes hit so hard! *group hug to you both* They don't pull any punches at all! Don't think any of us thought that at any point Sanji would do this and it's heartbreaking for both of them! Luffy is just a one of a kind person that will be forever loyal to you until the end of time! xoxo Also both of you bring us so much joy and laughter at the start of the reactions I love it! Don't ever stop being you.

“Low-class pirate”?! “I know you were just saying things you didn’t want to!” “Stop lying” “Did you think you could send me away that easily?!” “Screw that!” “No matter how many times you kick me, you’re the one that gets hurt!!” “Our journey isn’t over yet!” “I’ll be here waiting!” “If you don’t come back, I’ll be here…starving to death!” “You’re the cook of my ship!” “I won’t eat anything other than what you cook!” “Even if I get hungry or spears rain down on me, I’ll stay right here and wait for you!” “Be sure to come back, Sanji!” “Without you, I can’t become… the King of the Pirates!!” I meaaaaan BLAAGGGGH I can’t speak. for me in all of one piece, this monologue delivered by Luffy thus far has been the greatest scene I’ve ever witnessed and my absolute favourite scene in this show. Ep 808 , I’ll never forget it. honestly rewatching this arc with you guys, I’m gonna have to change my tier list of where I ranked this arc before because it’s moving up the order now. I’m very curious to know your tier list of arcs in one piece, maybe after this arc:)

This is why I love watching this with you guys, experiencing these emotions. Even seeing this for the third time, stil hits like a truck

I am back y’all:)) missed a couple of reactions but I am so ready to binge all your reactions I missed the last 2 weeks hehehe 😝 Now, I was going to write a long ass comment but reading some of the comments below, I feel that people have accurately hit upon all the feelings a lot of us felt during these 2 episodes , and only thing I can add is that from all of one piece, from all 1142 episodes of one piece, ep 807/808 is my favorite pair of episodes in the whole damn show!!!! of course I am very biased as Sanji has been from the beginning and to present time, my favorite character in the whole series, but man oh man, when I saw these episodes, it hit home. I have loved this show many times ago at many different moments, but when I saw this episode, I think I truly truly LOVED this show. ❤️ I haven’t seen your reactions yet so maybe I might add another comment we shall see:)

The Sanji retrieval arc is one of the best. The expansion of the world and depth of attention Sanji got is all just so good. We get introduced to so many great characters and so many epic interactions it's a real treat!

I just love the Whole Cake Island Arc so much, Oda did a brilliant job were you know Sanji can't get out of the situation he's in but at the same time you know Luffy will also not move on getting Sanji back. Its completely different then Usopp situation, because you know that Sanji is in a predicament. Zeff possibly getting killed, and his hands cuffed, have both broken him down back to his childhood, were he was afraid. Its such a brilliant way to make you feel for both Luffy and Sanji.

Yes, however you have several factors, the main thing was because of Zeff. Not only did Sanji not want to have Zeff die, but he didn't want to burden the Strawhats, and interrupt Luffy's Dream of becoming king of the Pirates by having them all go back to Baratie and protecting Zeff from a Big Mom attack. Then you have the Handcuffs on his arms, in which he would never be able to cook again for the Strawhat's.

Cheddah Slammer

For me, the most powerful moment was those few seconds when Nami slapped Sanji. That slap wasn’t just an action—it was a scream of pain, love, and truth all at once. Sanji has always treated Nami with devotion, so for her to strike him in that moment carried so much weight. It was her way of saying: “You’re hurting me by pushing me away, and I won’t accept it.” It’s such a rare, raw moment where all the jokes fall away and their bond is laid bare. That’s why I felt that slap deep in my heart—it was symbolic, heavy, and unforgettable.

Episodes 807 and 808 were special episodes that even aired on the same day in Japan with tons of ads, but Toei screwed it up a bit. They stretched a single manga chapter into a full hour, padding it with endless flashbacks—some repeated two or three times even though they’d just been shown a few episodes earlier. It killed the pacing and slightly dimmed the impact of what was originally such a powerful chapter. Luckily, the emotion still landed. Sadly, this also set the tone for later arcs, where half an episode could be wasted on flashbacks that, in the manga, were only a single panel or half a page. Fun fact: little Sanji is voiced by Ikue Ōtani, Chopper’s VA—she actually played young Sanji long before Chopper even appeared in the anime. And about Zeff: in the manga he ate his own leg to survive, but the anime censored it into a shipwreck injury. The Netflix live action went back to the manga version, which really restored the weight of his sacrifice.

There are many people who think Sanji was not loyal or that he did this because he didnt beleive Luffy could fight Big Mom. Its not really about that. This is about Sanji being so bullied and traumatized in his childhood that he doesnt think he deserves to be saved. He doesnt want to be a burden. Oda really handled Sanji's self- esteem issues in a genius way, and this past episodes show us why the character behaves like that

Arthur Lima

Every time I rewatch the Sanji vs Luffy fight in WCI, I cry without fail—and this time was no exception. It’s one of the most devastating and emotional moments in One Piece (with many before it and many to come—it is One Piece, after all, LOL). Sanji’s situation mirrors a blend of Robin and Usopp’s struggles: like Robin, he’s blackmailed and forced into an impossible choice, threatened by the lives of those he loves—Zeff, his hands as a cook, and his crew. Like Usopp, he finds himself clashing head-on with his own captain, a fight born not from hatred but from desperation. That’s what makes it so painful to watch. During the fight, Sanji unleashes everything—both in words and in battle. He knows Luffy’s unshakable will when it comes to protecting his nakama, so he puts all his strength into pushing Luffy away, leaving no room for doubt. His harshness almost works; even Nami is close to giving up on him. And yet, Luffy refuses to yield. He doesn’t fight back, he doesn’t lash out. Instead, he stands there and takes it all, because he knows Sanji’s true heart lies beneath the mask of cruelty. Gosh, I love Luffy so much. He is truly the greatest protagonist of all time: his ability to hear the unspoken truths in people, to see beyond the pain and lies, and to answer with unwavering faith. Sanji truly has no choice. He could sacrifice his hands, he could even abandon his dream of sailing with his beloved nakama—but he could never give up Zeff. For Sanji, Zeff is irreplaceable, a father figure who gave him life and purpose. Although the Straw Hats are Sanji’s true family, he still carries the burden of his biological family. Family conflicts are messy, and here Luffy faces a reality he cannot simply punch away. This moment recalls when Sabo had to return to his own family: young Luffy didn’t understand the details, but he sensed Sabo’s unhappiness—and he was powerless to stop the tragedy. In Whole Cake Island, Luffy recognizes that same helplessness, but this time he refuses to repeat the mistake. He may not know how to help, but he knows one thing: he will never abandon Sanji. The clash—and the love behind it—between true friends is so raw. I can’t help but cry every single time.

When luffy said I cant become the king of the pirates without you, that just hut like a train😢

_Kiing

I cry, you cry, Sanji cries, Nami cries, Luffy goes on hunger strike 💔 Oda why did you do this to us 😭

Molly

It was Mr. Prince! 👑

I think there's bit of different translations to some of the things luffy says. Arguably one of the most beautiful lines in one piece is when luffy says (when you kick me you're the one hurting the most) this is a reference back when he kicked luffy in the past to stop him from saying something he didn't mean. Water 7 This shows that luffy's core strength is paying attention to people around him especially his crew. Emotionally intelligent arguably a genius.

Cutler

so many damn eyecatchers lol

James McGee

Episode 808 was one of the hardest episodes to watch just like when Usopp fought Luffy too. Even though I was mad at Sanji, but I don’t blame him tbh because after that loser Judge was threatening to get rid of Zeff when he showed Sanji a pic of him too

Sergio Moreno

Sorry to do this to you guys! 😭😭😭 I know you now have to wait until next week to see what happens. Our captain has really grown up and Sanji knew that he had to go full force with Luffy, otherwise he would not be convincing. And that STILL didn't work. Luffy will wait for him, he won't eat anything that it's not been cooked by Sanji. What a heart wrenching scene...Sanji crying broke my heart...😭😭😭

Lulu-chan

Our captain has grown, he hurt a lot when hitting Usopp, that's why he learned from his mistakes and shouted what he should have shouted back then: "without you, I can't become king of the pirates" letting him know how important he is to him.

Potzi

This is very similar to the fight with Usopp, but with a very important but subtle difference. In Luffy's reluctance to hit Sanji is a subtle way to show Luffy's growth as a captain and as a friend. With Usopp, they both lost their cool, but ultimately, Luffy's inability to read the importance of the moment at that time lead to the duel and the hurt feelings. It could've very well been what destroyed the crew. Luffy is a much better judge of the mood at this point. He even vocalizes it. "No matter how much you kick me, you're the one who is hurt!" He understands that Sanji is battling something traumatic. He doesn't know what or why, and Luffy's the kind of person that never expects people to relive their trauma for the benefit of an explanation; but he knows it hurts and he knows Sanji doesn't need to struggle alone. Even if Sanji sees himself as the burden, Luffy doesn't and he knows the rest of the crew never would either.

yea those are rough ones

P.s. These episodes make the toughest of men cry like little girls.

Oh, and going back to TSC's comment (great one btw! Totally agree with you), he mentioned something about Sanji which was a theory for a long while: that goes as far as Alabasta, where he called himself "Mr Prince" while talking to Crocodile over the den den mushi 😉

😂😂😂

NOOOOO WAY!!!!! We would’ve freaked out even more if we’d known that!😂😂❤️❤️

Heather, you got Robin's DF🌸 and Jason you got Law's DF ❤️! It could not be more perfect!! I'm learning Japanese at the moment so I can confirm the name on the fan is Heather but using hiragana characters, which is not commonly used for foreign words as far as I know. "Heather" should be written in katakana as ヘザー (hezaa) because it is a foreign name. Pronounced: ヘ (he) ザ (za) ー (which extends the last vowel in a long vowel sound). While Jason is written ジェイソン, pronounced: ジ (ji) ェ (e) イ (i) ソ (so) ン (n) 😉👍🏼

Lulu-chan

Did Heather say “Boruto”? I’m dead 😂😂😂🤭🤭
