December's Patroncast

Ever thought of playing the Darkest Dungeon?

Kayla Haffley

Matt wasn't the one who wrote your page on the Nerd³ wiki, that was me. Another user named Moomius edited it with me.

A thought for streams is have your indie non-video series projects (planet are, bounty train, etc) and have 2 or 3 games in a single session.

Marvin Dominguez

Yep, those are all candidates I had in mind, in fact!

Or... I could just sing over the more dubious music. Yeeeeeessss...

I think it won't add much labour, as each livestream will give me at least one edited highlights video, so it's not much more work than it would be to just make a normal video, so hopefully that would be ok.

Many A True Nerd

Thanks!

Many A True Nerd

I'll keep an eye on that, don't worry :)

Ah yes, the Terminator thing was dreadful - another example of giving away literally the whole film up to the final fight... The Beta has kind of returned a fair bit as SO MANY games have early access phases now, which are fairly easy to get access too - not exactly a Beta, but a similar principle.

Many A True Nerd

That is an interesting point - Mass Effect 2 livestream... Huh, yes... Ok, we could be onto something here.

Many A True Nerd

The next one will likely be the KotoR, so that will indeed be its own thing :)

Good live stream on Sunday. Look forward to future ones. Planet base could be good. Or FTL / curious expedition. Both reasonable in terms of time for a play through. And both give natural points for viewer participation - multiple choices etc. Live stream might actually be a better format for those than pre recorded videos.

In Re KOTOR: Please set up a separate commentary recording from your mic, because if Twitch gets upset with the music, they will respond by stripping the audio. You can then repair using your commentary only audio.

Redqueenrunning

Yes, this would be great! You don't have to trim grinding out, so it would be decent on livestream, too.

I love that you're livestreaming, but be aware that you can burn out REALLY quickly by streaming + shooting and editing YT quality videos. I'd rather you stick around. Some people balance this by populating YT with stream copies (Slowbeef, et al). Alternately, some people will do fun one offs as streams, and keep to regular edited YT posts. I think this second option would probably be best for you. I love watching you fumble through a new game and discover the mechanics (Planetbase was GREAT for that, you sold me a copy at least). Don't do Fallout on livestream. I'm saving all of your FO4 videos for once I've finished the main quest with my wife. :)

Really enjoyed the live stream Jon! keep up the good work :)

Josh Hirshfield

You're going to burn yourself out on livestreaming very quickly if you try to stay at 100% entertainment value at all times. At least for me I watch livestreams more for the person streaming than the content being streamed.

Another example for film trailers spoiling too much: the latest Terminator. For "gaming press gets the game earlier", as an ex-gaming journalist, sometimes you get to play with betas, although as game development is increasingly pushed to continue to (and in many cases after) the last possible minute, these were getting even rarer. That being said, I left the industry a couple years ago.

I'd love to see more with the Mass Effect series. I just finished the series for the first time and I'm floating on a Mass Effect high right now. : )

Drucilla Shultz

Jon, as a fan, I just want to say, although the livestream was very entertaining, I wish you hadn't done Fallout 4, because I love the Fallout videos as their own thing.

Dave O'Neill

That's very kind of you to say - personally, I reckon I can do much better in future.

Many A True Nerd

I got into Christmas in early November. I always hit "the excited ceiling" too early.

The livestream was awesome! I can't wait for you to do more, even if I do have to get up at some ridiculous hour of the morning here in Australia for them - I'd love to see you do Bounty Train, I brought that because of you and fell in love with it - and Planetbase and KotOR would be awesome too (as would more FO4).
