Honestly though when else will I get this opportunity? Here goes! Fun fact about the lore there’s at least 17 different kinds of Khajiit! They vary from the tiny housecat-sized Alfiq to the massive grizzly bear-sized Senche-Rhat. A Khajiit’s form is determined by the phases of the moons of Nirn, Masser and Secunda. All Khajiit are born the same small size, and look incredibly similar at birth, but they quickly begin to develop into their unique forms within a couple weeks. This is what allows smaller Khajiit breeds to birth larger ones! Despite there being at least 17 known breeds, only a few have actually appeared in the games. These are the Cathay, Suthay, Ohmes, Alfiq, Senche, Pahmar, and Dagi. The only playable breeds have been the Cathay, Suthay-Rhat, and Ohmes/Ohmes-Rhat. The -Rhat suffix typically just means a larger variety of the same breed but there may be other small variations between the -Rhat and non-Rhat varieties of any given breed on top of the increased size. The playable breeds in order of game release are: Arena: Ohmes are the most human-like breed. No fur, no tail, just pointed ears! (I speculate claws/and night sight too maybe but that may just be my head canon lol cause it’s been neither confirmed nor denied.) Daggerfall: Ohmes-Rhat are more cat-like than Ohmes but still have a mostly human frame and facial structure. They do get fur and a tail at this point though! Morrowind: Suthay-rhat look more like the Khajiit of Oblivion and Skyrim. They got the full nine bipedal cat thing goin on. Biggest difference is that they’re slightly smaller than the Cathay and digitigrade as opposed to plantigrade. Oblivion/Skyrim/ESO: Like I said the Cathay are similar to the Suthay-Rhat but are larger and Plantigrade. They’ve also been the playable Khajiit race for 19 years now so you DEFINITELY know them lol I do wanna talk about the Alfiq though even though they’re not playable, because they’re the funniest Khajiit breed and my favorite. The Alfiq are quadruped Khajiit that look indistinguishable from common housecats, but funnily enough they’re just as sentient as their kin! Also they’re some of the most gifted with magic of their race, as their physical limitations mean they have to be clever with their spells. Lacking thumbs means they need telekinesis to pick up items and dress themselves, they may use fire spells to cook meals, or levitation to reach areas their small stature would otherwise prevent them from getting to! Also it’s cute seeing a talking housecat run a business lol And there you go! More than you EVER needed nor wanted to know about Khajiit biology!
