ali rambles: things I learned and experienced through making art!
Added 2024-04-24 04:44:39 +0000 UTCHello everyone! Here is the other ramble I planned on posting during my roadtrip that got unexpectedly delayed lol. I didn’t take into account that hotel WiFi is crap so here it is now that I’m finally home!
I plan on having the bakadere clown audio out this Friday, she’s currently in the process of being drawn :P
**I wanted to make a note of this after listening to this audio: Just because I have a few years of experience making and selling art please don’t consider me a professional when it comes to PayPal, taxes, etc. because I’m definitely not haha! I just wanted to be open and honest about my own experiences in hopes that it may be able to help others and to entertain :)

I’m glad you enjoyed it Joker! :D There is a lot to handle for sure. I didn’t even get into the part about selling prints/merch etc. because that’s a whole other can of worms lol. I never really dabbled in that myself but it’s something I’ve looked into a lot and would love to do someday!

2024-04-27 16:53:26 +0000 UTCThat’s awesome, I love fantasy too (both writing and reading) :) I also really enjoy horror/thriller and psychological stories. Anything with dark/heavy topics I usually enjoy ^_^

2024-04-27 03:42:41 +0000 UTCAlmost all of this knowledge is completely foreign and useless to me lol! It is neat to hear about some of the business side of things though even if I will never apply this knowledge. I must imagine that it can be quite a lot to juggle considering you don't want to lose clients.

2024-04-25 20:40:23 +0000 UTCI love writing fantasy. It helps that alot of the writing I do is for my dungeons and dragons campaign. But I'm a really big fan of Sci-fi or science based books. (specifically physics). I you saying you like reading to. What's your favourite genre?

2024-04-25 12:35:01 +0000 UTCThanks for your comment Lamestar and I’m happy to hear that my experience can help in some way! I will admit that when I first started doing commissions as a young adult my perspective going into it was completely wrong. I thought it would be fun every day since I’d be drawing but I can say that was not my experience at all looking back. *edit because I hit enter too soon lol: Don’t get me wrong, I still had fun drawing, but the majority of what you draw is not going to be what you necessarily like or want to do. At the end of the day it’s to make money which changes things a lot.

2024-04-25 10:06:45 +0000 UTCThanks for sharing your thoughts Azazel, I really enjoyed it! :D Your comment about the steak sauce and salt/pepper gave me a good chuckle too lol. The whole pose issue always bugged the hell out of me because it’s just so silly. Even if someone can’t put themself in said pose it’s still just that: a pose. That’s like saying someone owns a flavor like strawberry. It’s so generic and common that to think someone owns it is ridiculous! As for the furry art, I don’t draw much of them anymore. I think I did one or two that’s around on my other sites but that’s about it. Back in the day though I drew full on furry: snouts, fur, tail- basically full on anthro characters and it was a lot of fun! I learned about a lot of animals during that time and really enjoyed it. In general I love the furry community, or at least the time I spent in it back in the day. I’d say 90% of my experiences were awesome and positive. Thanks again for commenting Azazel and I hope you’re doing well! :)

2024-04-25 10:04:47 +0000 UTCThank you Seth, I really appreciate that! Tbh, since moving I’m hoping I can have more time now to focus on my audios for a bit while looking for a job. I’m staying with family at the moment and it’s very quiet- much more than my old apartment haha! So I’d really love to take advantage of that and put more into my art and stories ^_^ I’m sorry to hear about your experience with drawing. I went through a year or two without drawing a while back after hitting a plateau myself so I understand that feeling. I’m very happy to know you love writing though, I think that’s really awesome! What is your favorite genre to write? :)

2024-04-25 09:52:46 +0000 UTCLooking back on that story it is pretty funny! XD I can say that I’ve gotten many a picture like that through my time doing art. Sometimes it was for a “reference” and other times their intention was for something else (which was worse) lmao. You bring up a good point about the price and time thing too. I’ve had some people try to haggle prices and more times than not it felt pretty bad. Sometimes it wasn’t depending on the reason or order but for the most part I’d agree it’s not good to do!

2024-04-25 09:44:00 +0000 UTCI'm in the midst of of trying to decide on a career change and I've been wanting to do something more creative like potentially involving art so it's nice to hear about some of your knowledge on the subject. Though it did kind of support what I already suspected in that doing commissions sounds like not a great time. if I'm making art I'd want it to be what I want to make. Motivation/inspiration is difficult enough to find even without forcing yourself to create what other people are telling you to make.

2024-04-24 18:57:53 +0000 UTCEven if NSFW asmr audio will never be created, I think its still good you do NSFW though since it seems like you'd rather have that sometimes when you feel like it and have that not affect your regular asmr audios. That whole waving thing had me laughing a bit. It reminds me of a story I was told from my older brother. His friend was talking about the fact of using steak sauce on other foods isn't good since it's only used for steaks, and he said to him that the next time you get a steak then, don't get the seasoning on it. When he questioned why not to do it, my brother responded with, "Because it doesn't say steak salt or steak pepper on it." It is true though, nobody owns a pose if it's already been used by others. If literally only one person owned a pose of waving, then the rest of us would just act like NPC's at this point since we get programed to never wave because apparently it's a crime. However I feel like you could've stated it better than saying, "Anyone can put their body in a set pose." Even though the fuck off fits perfectly for it though. I haven't experienced those PayPal stuff yet, but then again I'm paying with debit currently because I'm too rich to carry money(jk). Oh boy, the furry community. Ok, I don't particularly claim myself as a furry. As much as my pfp looks like it, I am not a furry, I just liked my first drawing I've done. Also, Alichu you can't technically be claimed as a furry because majority of your characters are monster girls. The difference between the two are who the characters are the image references. The furries are covered in full fur, even with the tails and such, your art has human like aspect with minimal type of character hybrids. Something I will say though is that once I see like some pranks done on furries, such as taking and running off with their tail, all I can say is that the comments are the most funniest things to read on there. Granted I get their point in such of why they ask not to do those things, not trying to get on their bad side but like I feel a bit remorse for those who just get bullied in the comments. Adding on to the change in someone's art style, it's true what you said. I believe that any and everyone is different and unique in their own way so why do you have to change for others just for them to have what they want. Like it's your own personal art style and you shouldn't change it from someone else's demand since this is what you want to do. You have your own choice to change it however you like it. I'm pretty sure you're better off with telling them to get their art pieced together in minecraft and call it a day.

2024-04-24 15:53:58 +0000 UTCI used to draw years ago but hit a plateau and stopped after that. I'm not sure what happened but that sort of flipped a switch in my head and I now despise drawing. I do writing now because it's more interesting for me to see a world unfold and look at its ins and outs. Which is why I love it when your audio's stories overlap. I would love if you did more lore for your videos for us to figure out. But it would be alot more to add considering you draw the thumbnails and make the scripts yourself. also I hope your move was problem free and that your finally able to relax now ❤️

2024-04-24 14:29:43 +0000 UTCAlso for anyone commissioning art, if an artist gives you a price, either listed or bespoke, it's not a negotiation. Trying to haggle with an artist for a commission will instantly put you on their shit list because it shows you don't respect their time/work. Also please be patient, most artists will let you know if there's a delay but if they don't, just give them some time, sometimes life happens. (Btw a random dude sending you a pic of their junk as 'visual reference' is one of the funniest things I've ever heard)
