Valentine's Day Ramble! :) Chatting about anime and books! (rain background, eating chocolate, drinking wine & some tapping)

Thank you for spending some time listening to me ramble about anime and books that I've been enjoying lately ^_^ I decided to start my Valentine's Day early and stayed up last night to record. I thought about it and wanted to post it early for those who may live in different time zones to still enjoy on Valentine's Day if they wish! Thankfully I don't have to work today so I'll be taking a nap to make up for staying up late xD
I thought a nice rain background would be nice since I think it kinda adds a nice vibe to rambles (definitely not me trying to cover up my stomach sounds lol). I also forgot to talk about some movies I've watched lately so I suppose I'll have to save that for another time :P Anyway, I hope you all have a wonderful day!

No worries on the late comment either, I'm doing a bit of catch up myself since I wasn't online much yesterday. I kinda like catching up on them though since it's fun to read what you all have to say :) I get why some people can't get into the longer running series. They can be intimidating to start for sure. I didn't watch One Piece from the very beginning so when I decided to take the plunge a few years back it was definitely a big decision lol. I think the hype for MHA comes from the hero theme. I could be wrong about this, but heroes and villains are for the most part simplistic and widely known, so it makes it easy to get into and enjoy. Having said that, I don't enjoy MHA that much anymore. When I start to like the bad guys more than the main cast, I find that an issue xD I also feel you on the comment of older books. I read a lot in school but over the years my brain has completely forgotten a lot of key points lol. Or like you said, I was just way too young at the time to fully grasp it!

2024-02-18 23:57:19 +0000 UTCWe defiantly did grind a lot for weapons, I thankfully got mine pretty fast. I think technically these weapons are less than a 1% drop. There is 10% that one can drop at all and then it randomly selects one of the 20 characters after that. However you don't get duplicates so if your grind enough you will eventually get the one you need and/or one for every character if desired. I got Zeta's weapon drop as my third one so that's pretty fast all things considered. That makes sense, I have never been a big fan of Isekai shows in general and even more so when they became super mainstream lol. I did like the first season of Shield Hero tho and I have several friends that really love Jobless Reincarnation.

Alas I fell asleep amidst writing my comment, so here we are again several days later (works had me late this week so I've been pretty tired lol). It's good to see that you enjoyed the wine and the chocolates, sometimes they can be a real hit or miss. I've also never read Harry Potter, but I did see the films, I had a friend who had all the books, but back when I was a wee kid they were still a bit daunting to look at. I won't lie, I haven't really been watching anime recently, just adding stuff to my list of to be watched, I can't really find the time of day to do it right now. I'll make sure to give that snot one a wide berth if I ever stumble across it, sounds a bit gross π. I'm probably gonna have to come back to this comment later, and keep editing it because there was so much to talk about π. Ok continuing on, I've not actually watched any Naruto, I'm not really the type of person to get into really long anime (sorry One Piece) I never really have the time for it, and it would take me years to catch up lol. As for the animes you mentioned being your favourite art styles my brother used to be very into MHA, so much so he'd force me into watching it with him on the TV instead of watching it alone. I've never really been a big fan, I never really got the hype for it. As for books, I think I mentioned it before, but a lot of books on my backlog (besides rereads) are history books. I'm currently part way through a book about The Somme, basically just a history book, and then I've yet to start, but I got some books on Germany during the period of 1918-1945. I must admit I'm also quite fond of older gothic novels, but it's quite the shame I first read them in Secondary school where I wasn't able to properly appreciate the stories, darn analysis for English Lit >:(.

2024-02-17 08:34:17 +0000 UTCThat Wings of Terror song was good! It's always cool when the final boss has a kick ass song, makes the fight that much more fun (or frustrating lol). Considering it drops the best weapon you obviously have to grind it out! Don't tell anyone else this but in WoW I managed to get the Invincible mount (less than 1% drop rate) in under 100 runs in the ICC raid hehe :P I had to look up who Kiba ended up with and I don't remember her at all lol. I guess she was in the anime/manga at some point, but I have no memory of that xD I get you on the Demon Slayer thing. Sometimes there's too many series out at the same time with a similar theme so it kinda makes them uninteresting after a while. Isekai series are like that for me a lot but that could also be because I love Jobless Reincarnation so much lol.

I would have been over the moon happy if I had a teacher talk about Death Note back in the day lol. I've watched Death Note more times than I can count at this point. I've only read the manga once because it's a chonky series lol. I'm sure you know those manga pages have more dialogue than most! Still very enjoyable though. I'll make some time to do a manga/death note ramble sometime soon because that sounds like a lot of fun! :) I'll keep an eye out for the Naruto manga. I enjoy the old art so it would be a nice collection edition. As for the Mimikyu box, I completely get where you're coming from. Card collecting is an expensive hobby and PokΓ©mon keep raising their prices ; o ; If it weren't for Mimikyu I probably wouldn't have bought it haha!

Mainly just cause the game is fun, but also the final raid boss has a kick ass song (Wings of Terror, if you look it up you might get the version from the gatcha but it's all the same song Relink or not). Also the final raid boss has a chance to drop the best weapon in the game for each of the characters so I gotta get it lol. All I really cared about for romances was Naruto and Hinata as well as Shikamaru and Temari and I was happy enough just getting those! Although I might be wrong, but I think Kiba also ended up with someone that wasn't in the original series or at least wasn't a huge part. At this point I have lost all interest in MHA and I doubt I will return to it. I also have been feeling that a bit with Demon Slayer as well. Although for that one I don't really know why, I think it might just be because I like JJK and Chainsaw Man a bit more and oversaturated with demon shows lol.

I think it's sweet to show people we care but hey, that can be done any day of the year! Then again, I'm not romantic in the slightest so my opinion is void- ignore that lol. Bro, don't even get me started on the teasing of Naruto. You really hit the nail on the head with what you said. Everyone that liked Sakura she didn't like. Everyone that liked Sasuke he didn't like. The one girl that liked Naruto he thought was weird. Neji never looked at Tenten like she did him. It got better in Shippuden but damn, I get it. All I know is that if Naruto didn't end up with Hinata the show would have been forever dead to me. No pun intended :P

I know some people hate grinding but as an avid PokΓ©mon shiny hunter and fishing achievement hunter in WoW, I embrace the grind lol. Ok, ok- you got me with your comment. Choji does deserve better than Ino, I can't argue with that lol. I'll forever be salty about that though. Everyone else got with someone that we knew already except Choji >.< I remember when the anime introduced Overhaul, I loved his design! Like you said though, once the villains leave the show my interest just drops entirely. I really have to force myself to pick it back up and even then, it's only if I see a video of a cool fight that catches my interest.

Other than my fictional love of Naruto and Sasuke being together I always told myself that if Naruto didn't end up with Hinata the anime would be dead to me. I love talking about anime and books more than anything :P I forgot that I also wanted to talk about some movies I watched lately so I'll have to do another one for that sometime. One of them had Peter Dinklage who I love! You make a really good point about the school year thing. I didn't even think about that but damn- that's been a long school year lol. Given that you grew up in the country like me I'm not surprised to hear your mom was also against Harry Potter haha! I still remember a preacher on TV saying that and PokΓ©mon were evil back in the day. With Vampires, I think the idea of immortality and beauty is what interest people most. There's also the mystery of how they turned, what kind of person they are after so many years of living. That's why I love Anne Rice's interpretation of them so much. She really touches on the loneliness of living forever and the setbacks it can have- watching all your loved ones die, never aging (which is scary for one character in particular). I just imagine how crazy it is to live through different time periods and what that does to a person! I hope you had a good Valentine's Day too Skelly! Even though you can't digest them I hope you enjoyed some chocolate! I'm not sure why but out of all the ones you listed snotty senorita got me the hardest xD

That was so sweet of you to put it up on the store for everyone ^_^ I'm sorry to your parents Antoni, but that white chocolate was God awful lol. The outside was alright but the inside I swear was just pure butter taste Dx I've also heard that about Dominos Pizza. I'm pretty sure in Japan it's crazy expensive even for just a size small. My pizza place of choice is Pizza Guys. I think it's only in a few states but damn is it good! The halo effect you mentioned makes sense for sure. If some random anime dude did that, I imagine most people would have found him gross haha! Even if she was the most beautiful girl that I instantly fell in love with I still wouldn't be cool with that. Germs are germs and my response is "how about NO!" xD When it comes to time zone differences, I'll admit I'm probably a little more aware than most people. The big reason being that a lot of my family live on the east coast so I'm always going, "Ok, it's 9 here so it's 6 there" lol. For that reason, I figured it would be good to upload it early just in case- covering all the country bases if I can! Now I will say I have some family members that despite all these years still proceed to wake my ass up at 5 in the morning because they forgot the time difference- RIP my sleep lol :')

I know the big French manga editor is releasing new double-volume editions, I'm sure you could find a few in English, or otherwise used. I'd even say that, for OG Naruto especially, reading *and* watching is key. You can see a lot of evolution and inspiration slipping through the pages and panels, and that one Asuma vs Kisame panel fighting in Konoha (Volume 16), which cuts two pages in half to showcase the unsheating of the shark sword and the blood that splashes, HMMMMM it is amazing!... Yeah I do teach mangas sometimes in literature classes. Funny you mention Death Note as it's the one manga I make my students read. : ) Now I do hope for an eventual, 2024 ramble of your favourite mangas, perhaps with a woman's pov? I'm a man, thus my takes on feminism and female representation in art creations are limited. Oh right I saw your Mimikyu box in a store last weekend and OH GEEZUS, it's both beautiful... but costly. You made it tempting to get it tho, although spending the equivalent of a brand-new Switch game isn't in my budget, ahah... May your birthday weekend be a splendid one. : )

I did start reading later towards the Shippuden stuff though because that stuff was getting good! lol. I don't think I've seen that video you mentioned about the female characters but now I'm curious- I'll need to give that a listen while I draw one day. As much as I love Death Note I have similar feelings about some female characters in there too. Tbh, I could make a whole ramble about that series since the manga is one of my favorites! Ngl, your last comments made me chuckle- the idea of Boruto being Madara winning is so funny to me xD And hey, I mentioned in this ramble that I love BL! I was 100% one of those fangirls that loved the idea of Sasuke and Naruto together despite knowing it would never happen. As such, I would have been happy with that ending :P

I knew someone would find enjoyment from me eating that disgusting white chocolate xD The outside wasn't bad, but the middle really did have a butter taste which was disgusting lol. And you are right in that I will probably be doing the combo of chocolate and wine again :P I didn't think I'd like it that much, but it was better than I thought. I hope the wisdom teeth removal went well! I know how painful that is so hopefully you got some good medicine and soup to eat. Don't worry, the first few days suck but after that it slowly starts to get better, so I wish you a speedy recovery :) I understand it can be tough sometimes not having a partner, especially during a time where you're going through something painful. I like to think that there's someone out there for everyone though. I know that may sound like something a lot of people say, but I really do feel like waiting for that one person will be worth it and you'll know when you find them. Until then just be sure to take care and love yourself too because I think those are good traits to have in a partner. I'll spare the rant but on the topic of love: God damn lookin back the only reason I watched Naruto as a kid was watching these sexy teens awkwardly flirt, only for the show to disappoint me every single time xD like no one liked anyone who liked them back it was such a weird tease :/ The split second Sauske hopped into that cursed barrel I lost my shit and never watched again. Being single on its own isn't all that bad for me, it's when I'm reminded of that by seeing happy couples in public. Valentine's is basically that but on steroids. But it's never too late. As someone who regrettably grew up - practically in his bedroom everyday - forming absolutely no social connections, my confidence and social skills improved so much throughout the last two years. The key is really just to go out there. Exactly two weeks ago, I asked out a girl at my shop after I served her since she was attractive and we had a good chat. She had a boyfriend but that didn't take away from how good it felt to have finally asked someone for the first time. Sorry for that ramble. TL;DR as an introvert, using my own time to get out the house and do things that involve interacting with people is what boosted my confidence and social circle. Hopefully this can inspire you or someone else reading to do the same, you won't regret it.

Me and my friends have been grinding the hell out of rare drops from bosses in Granblue Relink since I have gotten off work today lol. I also got my favorite candy for the holiday, peanut M&Ms. I haven't seen any recent anime so I don't know any of the titles you talked about lol. But it was still neat to hear about them. I also didn't expect Naruto takes during this either, but I am glad that Choji didn't end up with Ino. He deserves better lol. I also found it fitting that two of my least favorite characters got together so I could hate them more. I hadn't really cared about MHA ever tbh, I only ever watched it because of Overhaul. I thought he was rad as fuck. But once he was out of the show I quickly lost interest. I also in general have been tired of superheroes for a long time (Since Winter Soldier came out) so it's not that surprising. I also don't have much to add to the book talk lol since I don't read much. However the book that may have inspired Dracula seems super interesting. I love old folktale and stories.

With MHA it has a handful of good parts mixed with a ton of filler, and I'm sorry but I never liked Deku, and how many episodes are there going to be before they have to say alright we've literally covered 365 days, they have to move on to their next year of school. My mom was the exact same with Harry Potter, there was a bunch of stuff we weren't allowed to watch growing up, but one day my dad is just like, I'm gonna watch Harry Potter, and she never said anything about it again. Honestly my family would watch it so much that I got sick of it and am ok if I never see it again. I've asked some people this before but I'd like your thoughts on the matter, why do you like (and think others like) vampires? What is it about them that people find so alluring. Not gonna lie, even as someone who really likes to be clean and doesn't even like being forced to touch door knobs, I find the idea of a guy so enamored with with this girl that he doesn't even care that she's covered in snot, to be really funny, gross but funny. I mean who are we to deny him his phlegm princess, his mucus mistress, his snotty seΓ±orita. Happy valentine's day and sorry not sorry for the gross alliteration.

Sounds like they're not that pricey in the US, but here in the UK the memes are true - they're not cheap (it may be a similar situation to how Dominos Pizza is cheaper in the US). Granted, I actually didn't eat chocolates this Valentine's, but I did surprise my colleagues at work with some chocolates as well as a nice self-made 'card' if you may (which you'll see on Twitter) π» And I agree that dark chocolate is generally slightly better than milk chocolate. But damn, you're really slandering one of my parents' favourite desserts; Raffaello (the "white" one). lmao I don't think I've properly had wine before. I always imagined I might really like it. Definitely save that bottle for tapping sounds in future audios! That was nice! Ew, that girl sneezing scene you described made me gag as well. The fact the protagonist thought it was "cute" made me think of the 'Halo' effect; reacting to one's behaviour based off of their attractiveness. Happens quite often if you think about it, one common example being an ugly nerd is a "know-it-all" whereas a cute nerd is "smart". Though the snot was quite an extreme example. π Lastly, thank you for committing to an early upload as a way of recognising that you have viewers from different parts of the world. For the record, there would've been absolutely nothing wrong with sticking to your comfortable upload schedule - especially knowing that the majority of your audience live in the same country as you anyway. The topic always brings my mind back to an itch that'll never be scratched. I'm not going to name the channel, but a roleplay ASMRtist I used to watch premiered a New Years Eve special (2020 turning 2021) and someone commented something like "I'm sacrificing an hour of sleep for this, better be worth it!" And someone replied with; "an hour? you finna watch it three times or something hon?" - which then got hearted by the channel (OP didn't get a heart, which is always a big "damnnn" moment). Granted it wasn't exactly the nicest sounding comment, but that reply was mind-numbing and I as a foreign subscriber felt 'unseen' since I could relate to the OP for staying up later to listen to the video. Although, this was back when I would take stuff too personally. It's debatable whether that may have influenced my ceasing of listening to her content, but either way I just wanted to put this out. Like I said, unscratched itch. Ramble audios welcome ramble comments, right Ali? Hehe. Thanks for reading all this if you got to the end. And thanks for this upload. 2024-02-14 22:07:54 +0000 UTCAn interesting element I've pinpointed through *reading* the original manga of Naruto after years of only knowing the anime made me realize that while the Sakura issue is still a thing, yes, it is less frequent since frames aren't expanded, filled. Whenever she is absent, well, she is absent. When she's useful, it's pinpointed. The overall *pace* difference is so drastic as the show goes on that while she clearly isn't as central as the two boys, she is "merely" a "very good supporting character". Isn't there a video essay on YouTube addressing this very topic, "How Naruto failed its female characters" or something? It worsens with time and Volume 56 (the one with Naruto's birth) truly shows that it was a team effort from Kishimoto and his wife. Oh and don't worry about Choji and Ino not matching, Boruto is a product of the Eternal Tsukuyomi, Madara won. :' ) Or you know, Naruto and Sasuke ended together, come on that shot of them on the floor after their final duel says it all, GAYYYYYYY! <3

I watched some Mashle with friends, and it's so funny and a decent Harry Potter parody (I think it's supposed to be the MC Mash combined with muscle in terms of pronunciation). With regards to Harry Potter vs LOTR and your Mom, Tolkien being a Christian probably contributed to her being okay with that series. I haven't been committed to any one anime series as of late, but I have been trying to keep up with the Pokemon Horizons anime and I wanna get into Dungeon Meshi. Have an enjoyable Valentine's Day.

Honestly, if you can give someone a heart box of chocolates and get them to be your valentine, that's either an accomplishment or just surprising. I would judge you on the chewing sound a bit from the box of chocolate but just like Forest Gump says, "Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get." Also how rude of you not giving us the first bite of chocolate, especially since it was dark chocolate. But then again it's ladies first I'd guess idk :P. (Also, do you even think a snot snowball is just as peak as yellow snow or not alichu. ) Don't feel ashamed of not watching or reading Harry Potter. I never watched or read any of the books as well until a year ago and I feel so bad about not doing it. That may be more why we can defy you as the Bookworm Girl that enjoys reading. First the wiskey was getting to you now wine is getting you flipping topics from "And TLOFT and... oh wait I gotta bone to pick with this anime" and then "wait I gotta take another sip of wine and I'll make sure to eat another chocolate." Pretty sure you've found your mix of stuff: wine and crappy heart box of chocolates. I just started giggling after hearing you eat and complain about coconut chocolate. The icing on the cake was just the way you said butter since it sounded so pouty and the fact you both spat it out and I think I heard a tummy rumble from you. (Also since all that's out of the way, Tomorrow I get my wisdom teeth removed for real this time, and I won't be able to eat solid foods for the time.) (New edit: Finally got them out and I feel ok now, however I'm still depressed since I didn't get a valentine, nor a girlfriend to be there to support me. I wish I did have one to love everyday for me since I feel so alone all the time, especially since I'd want them to cuddle next to me while I'm dealing with this pain a bit) :(
