Roleplay poll 35 & QOTW :)
Added 2024-02-06 00:25:18 +0000 UTCHappy Monday everyone! I hope your week is starting off better than mine lol. My state is expecting a bunch of wind and rain the next few days and needless to say it's not fun. I love rain but hate being in it xD My power was flickering last night so I ended up not being able to record anything. As I was typing this my internet also went out and I had to wait to post it haha! Wish me luck that I can record later. If everything goes well my Pokémon card opening video will be out tomorrow night! ^_^
For next week's character I was thinking we could continue the animal theme but with a little something different- let me know which one sounds most interesting to you :P
The question this week is this: how long do you give an anime/manga before you decide it isn't for you? I've always had a three episode rule for anime, two volumes for manga. If you can't catch my attention in that time then it's probably not my cup of tea.

Lol that was the spookiest storm I've ever been in, was kind of cool having the cops permission to go as fast as I wanted though! Lol

2024-02-09 05:14:42 +0000 UTCWow, that's pretty intense- glad you made it home safely! As much as I love rainy/stormy weather that's very scary. Even if I were inside during that it's too much of a good thing xD

2024-02-08 19:59:21 +0000 UTCYea! There's a few Easter eggs in the walking dead with the blue meth, and one about Jesse Pinkman! Lol Lol naaah, but it was so spooky seeing things pretty much go from bright sunny day to dark and stormy, driving down the highway, and seeing lightning illuminate a tornado lol OH! also, at my last job, was leaving work, was wondering why the parking lot lights were flickering so much, looked over at a storm that was coming, yea... no... the flickering was lightning, and that storm was emerald green... lol I literally raced home, was going 80mph down a 55mph road, there were even 2 cops on the side of the road giving me that "go go go!" Wave lol made it home just in time, that storm ended up spawning like 5 tornados locally, and that was on the east coast lol

2024-02-08 11:52:06 +0000 UTCIf I get recommended something from a friend then I'll be a little more lenient since I trust their judgement (for the most part haha!). It looks like wererabbit is in the lead, so I need to get ready to draw a bunny girl- not disappointed in the slightest though, I love rabbits! :P

2024-02-08 11:34:28 +0000 UTCI love Nagatoro, she's so cute! I'm not into many cute romance anime but the dynamic between her and Naoto is sweet. I also find guy characters like that adorable so it's a win/win all around :P

2024-02-08 11:31:34 +0000 UTCWait, wait- what?! Breaking Bad and Walking Dead are connected? This is the first time I've heard of this- I must investigate further o A o I'm not surprised in the slightest given you were in Kansas- that's prime tornado location! Did you happen to meet Dorothy while you were there? :P

2024-02-08 11:26:30 +0000 UTCJust an example for Carrot! I kinda have an idea for a wererabbit that I think will be fun. I'm also looking forward to drawing a rabbit girl :P

2024-02-08 11:20:11 +0000 UTCWhen it comes to anime it really depends, if it's one I'm watching because of recommendations, they typically get the benefit of the doubt if they're bad for the first few episodes, and most other shows in my list will get a similar treatment to yours, good first few episodes? Probably keep watching. As for the character for next week, I voted for wererabbit, I'm hoping there will be cheese!!!

2024-02-08 00:55:51 +0000 UTCFor me it's mainly the ground itself, it's not used to soaking up water so it floods quite easily. Especially at the very start of storms. Thankfully it's not too bad in the city, but the outskirts are really rough to drive through after a big storm. For spoilers I also look up things that are like pretty obvious one way of the other, such as something like "Does x end up with y?" or "Does x die?". And then after that I have a lot of fun watching a show to see how to reaches that conclusion. Although recently I did look up the 2 most recent chapters of Nagatoro since I saw a post about them and that made me want to read the whole series instead of waiting for more anime episodes.

2024-02-07 03:07:29 +0000 UTCEnded up being no tornado, but due a few minutes it was eerie haha have had a few tornado scares myself, I remember the first one I saw though was when I was a little kid and I was on a road trip with my dad and we were driving through Kansas ... go figure... lol and yea! I'm my case, my city has grown so quickly with no thought into how things are when it rains, so it floods pretty quickly here. Lol same!! I was like that with the Walking Dead, fitting that both the Walking Dead and Breaking Bad are set in the same universe lol

2024-02-07 00:54:02 +0000 UTCIs Carrot the hint to the next character or is it just an example? And also I only claimed Bleach since I don't really have a system for what time I spend on an anime to like it. Plus I don't really have a touch in Manga since I never really owned one before.

2024-02-07 00:50:50 +0000 UTCI like your way of doing things Bob! I think what you said is fair in judging when to continue/stop a series. I was reminded of something I've noticed when you mentioned bare minimum requirements. I know this may sound a little snobby of me but it's how I feel! I think some newer anime series tend to have the same "look" to them. I can't really pinpoint what it is but it kinda distracts from it having its own art style. My guess is the company working on it since the manga art looks different than said series. Either way, some of them have this copy/paste look that I'm not a fan of, almost like a template. Maybe it's just me but it's something I've noticed over the past few years with anime.

2024-02-06 22:38:41 +0000 UTCWhenever the rain/wind really picks up I try to make a habit of turning my computer off. I'm not sure if that works the same but it makes me feel a little better! It's caught me a few times mid doing something which is always scary and frustrating xD My memory isn't the best so I usually try to watch as much as I can if a good number of episodes are out. Even when season twos come out, I sometimes have to rewatch season one to remember everything lol.

2024-02-06 22:12:08 +0000 UTCThere's been a few times I've been that way too. I've stopped watching an anime that I was enjoying for no reason in particular, I just stopped haha! I think it's usually work or life gets in the way- I get too far behind and end up forgetting about it. I gotta agree with bob though, Hunter x Hunter is sick af! Don't feel pressured to watch more of course, especially if you aren't able to. Let me just say some of those later fight scenes are bad ass. I do have a huge love for Killua though so maybe I'm being a little bias for this series xD Oh man, Death Note is one of those series I have a little obsession with. I can't count how many times I've watched it. I also bought the manga box set a year or two ago and reading it was amazing. I don't think I've ever read a manga that had so many words in their text boxes before, it was liking reading a book and I loved it!

2024-02-06 21:59:41 +0000 UTCHaha, that desert comment made me chuckle xD I pretty much live in a desert too which makes this rain even worse- roads aren't meant for it so it's just been a nightmare to go out in. My poor car is like "wtf are you doing to me?!" lol. I'm 50/50 on spoilers when it comes to anime. For books it's a big no- I hate spoilers when reading. With anime though, like you said- sometimes I'll see a cool moment or fight that makes me want to pick up a series, so in those cases I'm cool with it :P

2024-02-06 21:44:35 +0000 UTCOh no, that is terrifying! Where I lived when I was younger had a few tornado scares- I remember watching one from a good distance away and it was scary as hell. That's a sight you'll never forget. The worst part about this rain isn't even the rain itself but that the roads and stuff aren't made for it, so it makes driving a nightmare :( If I find a series that I really like, I'll end up just binging the entire thing haha! That doesn't happen too often but when it does I end up having a little obsession with said series. While not an anime that was the case heavily with Breaking Bad lol.

2024-02-06 21:32:17 +0000 UTCI feel you! Rain is my comfort weather too. I'd love to live somewhere where it rains more frequently- not like this type though, the rain mixed with high wind and flooding the roads isn't fun ; o ; When I think of a werecat IDK why since they aren't the same, but my mind was thinking of Hanekawa from Monogatari haha! I've only seen two wererabbit type characters, one being Carrot from One Piece if you want to count her Sulong form :P It's alright if you don't like Bleach, we all have different interests so no worries! :) Even as a big fan of it I admit there are parts that were a bit tough to get through (especially a few filler arcs). I felt like the later episodes were much more entertaining than the beginning ones, so I completely understand it being hard to get to those points.

2024-02-06 21:13:44 +0000 UTCUnfortunately, I have had to go out in the rain because of work and groceries- not fun! lol. I think it may be starting to slow down now to just a little sprinkle so hopefully no more worries about the power going out. Like you I too tend to form an opinion after the first episode since I see it as an anime's "first impression" lol. A few years back if I didn't like the first episode I just wouldn't watch anymore, but I realize now that I miss out on some cool stuff if I don't give it a little more time- especially cool fights! As for one I started and ended up disappointed...there's two that come to mind: Classroom of the Elite and Goblin Slayer. I'm a little familiar with the original content and I feel the anime adaptions of them lately haven't been doing them justice ; o ;

2024-02-06 20:48:13 +0000 UTCI probably would have but the streaming service I was watching it on didn't have anymore episodes.

2024-02-06 20:41:47 +0000 UTCI can be like that too sometimes, especially with a lot of romance anime. More times than not I won't even try it unless I hear or see something that makes me interested xD

2024-02-06 20:32:24 +0000 UTCI'm willing to try anything, but that also means I drop things quickly. I've dropped 900 anime at episode 1 and 500 manga at chapter 1. I usually have a few checkpoints. 5 minutes/20 pages: Do the visuals and premise meet my bare minimum requirements? 1 episode/1 chapter: Is there anything that justifies my time? (Visuals, writing, characters, premise, popularity, critical reception, recommendations) 3 episodes/1 volume: Has it delivered on its premise or has it just been writing checks it can't cash? 6 episodes/whatever chapters: Am I enjoying it? Everything up till now has been objective critic/reviewer, but at 6 episodes I feel comfortable just trusting my gut. I rarely change my mind after this point with anime. Manga is different because they're so long that a manga can change completely into something that I'm no longer interested in, so I drop manga whenever.

2024-02-06 13:06:39 +0000 UTCHunter x hunter picks up at episode 51! JK but I feel like you should at least finish a story arc if you're partway through it. The ending to a shounen story arc usually has enough payoff to make the buildup worth it

2024-02-06 12:55:59 +0000 UTCRemember to invest in a good surge protector! I lost a monitor to a power outage once, very sad day, though pc survived thankfully. I don't have a hard rule for new anime. I'm the opposite of a binge watcher, I'll have days or weeks between watching episodes so if an anime fails to catch my internet I'll genuinely just forget about it and never touch it again.

2024-02-06 12:55:34 +0000 UTCYou can judge bleach in 5 minutes as long as those are 5 minutes from the Ichigo vs Kenpachi fight.

2024-02-06 12:53:29 +0000 UTCAlways liked the rain, it makes the world seem smaller and more manageable. Hope the sky doesn't get too angry over there. For me it varies wildly how much I'll put up with, some shows I can like one aspect of it and nothing else but still end up watching all of it, and others I may watch the first episode and say well that was a waste of my time. It's more common that I start a new anime, watch a few episodes, think it's somewhat interesting, and then never watch it again. If it's a very popular anime or someone specifically recommends it to me personally then I try and watch 5 episodes and see how I feel. I remember I watched like 50 episodes of Hunter x Hunter and was like meh, don't really like it, and then I watched Death Note and was like, wow that's a really cool idea and then never got past a few episodes, however I did get to the famed potato chip episode.

2024-02-06 03:50:13 +0000 UTCStay safe with all the rain! As someone that lives in a desert I have zero advice on how to deal with it lol. But if it's causing problems its probably raining pretty hard out, so safety of any kind is advisable. For almost any media I will just go until I am bored or just don't feel like continuing. That usually happens pretty fast in general. However I also am not someone that cares about spoilers, so I tend to just look up endings or cool moments from whatever I'll be watching/reading/etc and if I see something I really like later in a series I am much more willing to go through parts that I am not digging.

2024-02-06 03:10:07 +0000 UTCBleh, I love the rain, but if it means losing power I don't like it lol had a nasty storm a few weeks back, high winds, about 3.5 inches of rain over a 4 hour period, flooding, but the creepy part was I got a tornado warning pretty much right over my neighborhood right as the wind and rain suddenly died down.. that was... unnerving... lol but stay safe if you need to go out!! As for the choice... I'm honestly not sure, fan of werewolves, but you never see anything of a wererabbit... hmm... I think I'd be happy with any of those 3. And as for the question, honestly about the same, I'll give it a few episodes and then I never touch it again, or it's the only thing I watch till I'm done with it lol

2024-02-06 01:14:42 +0000 UTCRain is always gonna be my best comfort weather since I just enjoy being in that type of weather. Hopefully you don't end up dealing with no internet so you can't respond to the comments left here. Honestly, I'm choosing Werewolf since it's more or less based of my likings to wolf's and such. Idk why but when I just think of werecat, it sounds like something nonexistent and with wererabbit, that just made me think of a rabbit with rabies for some reason and idk why. As for the question of the week, honestly I just don't know. There are some anime stuff I could get into(depending if I like the whole plot and such), but more or less it just depends on what I'm watching. Ik I'm probably gonna get flamed for this but I remember that I just can't get into watching Bleach for more than 5 minutes since I just feel like getting a headache and I was never interested in it.

2024-02-06 00:49:35 +0000 UTCHope you're not needing to go out often, I remember walking back home with strong winds and rain at dark. It wasn't late but the streets were dead due to everyone obviously staying inside. It was such an eerie experience. Stay safe, Ali and anyone else facing challenging weather! For any show, I usually form an opinion on it within only the first episode - but I do obviously give it another one or two more episodes if it seems to have SOMETHING promising about it. Your question makes me curious if you've excitedly started a new anime/show recently and were disappointed, did this ever happen and which one was it? Wererabbit sounds really interesting, I always wanted to see variations of cursed half-human/half-animal mutants other than the usual wolf. Besides, I'd like to let our two wolf ladies keep their spotlights! ❤

2024-02-06 00:40:19 +0000 UTCI feel like I'm someone that won't even start unless I have a feeling I would like it. From there, I usually just watch it until I either finish or just drop randomly.
