Roleplay poll 34 & QOTW!

Hello everyone! As mentioned in my ramble, next week I think it would be fun to do a yandere character. Tbh, yanderes aren't my favorite character type, but it being close to Valentines Day, I thought it would be fun to show a little obsessive love :P I'm not sure if I want her to be a human or some sort of monster/animal girl just yet- we'll see! Let me know what kind of yandere you want to obsess over you lmao.

For question of the week- let's make it something different this time. If and when the zombie apocalypse happens, what is your weapon of choice? Considering I'm not that strong or smart I'd probably just use some daggers and alarms lol. Alarms for distracting the zombies of course. I'd like to think I'd be like Thorfinn from Vinland Saga but I'm not that cool unfortunately xD

Comments

I feel like I may have heard of this before, but I can't remember. If not, there is another book that's similar but maybe without the robot companion. It seems like a very interesting premise though! I don't trust Netflix at all with adaptions- they've disappointed me too many times now lol. I've heard really good things about the One Piece live action but I still can't bring myself to watch it- maybe one day when Netflix doesn't go all crazy yandere on me when I try to cancel my membership for a few months xD

alichu

Yeah that sounds like a pretty good deal lol. Zombies getting into most established communities seems like a nightmare. It's easy to forget to check areas that you think are safe. I've played too many survival games, zombies or otherwise, and am intimately familiar with this fact.

JokermanTalon

It's called the Electric State by Simon Stรฅlenhag, I highly recommend it, but since I don't make blind book recommendations, I'll give a little insight into the setting, which I'm 100% not stealing from the blurb: 1997 USA, Society is addicted to VR. The landscape is littered with huge battle drones and discarded waste (consumerism amirite). The story follows a young woman and her little yellow robot companion as they travel West to the Pacific Coast. I absolutely love it, so much so that I still have the receipt from when I bought it 5 years ago held on the first page lol. I'm just hoping Netflix don't massacre it though it seems they've made a series off one of his other books, so I'll see what that's like. One last thing too, the book has a set of music tracks to go with it too, it should be on YouTube if you'd like to check it out

ProzXADYN

Hey, you sure you want to steal that food? What if I was planning on giving you a goodie bag before you left, huh? Look, how about this. You control the prison and I control the farm. I'll supply you food but if shit ever goes down on the farm, I know I have a place at the prison, deal? :P Seriously though, the prison probably would be better in the long run. The thought of a zombie getting inside though is terrifying to me, especially in large numbers ; o ;

alichu

Oh? I'm curious as to what the graphic novel is! Netflix is one of those streaming services I'll get every now and then if something is interesting. After I watch said show though I'll usually cancel for a while xD I agree with you in that I definitely would hate living in an apocalyptic word. I already know I probably wouldn't survive long but hey, I'd at least take it as far as I could just to see!

alichu

Lol back in high school, my friends and I would spend hours devising plans on what we'd do in the zombie apocalypse, and all it would take is some crazy scientists to try and mutate and weaponize the real life cordyceps zombie fungus to work on humans as well lol And yup! I used to think a sword would be awesome, but something like that? Short and maneuverable enough to be used in tight places, multiple different uses aside from defense, that, a small .22 cal handgun for small game, with a ar15 rifle with a suppressor (that can also be used on the .22 handgun) for emergencies, and that'd probably be a great combo!

Delta

Chop my hand off and give me whatever Ash got any day, those zombies won't know what's coming. If we're talking seriously though, I've thought about how I'd survive all types of apocalypses, it's an inevitable thought we all have if you ask me ๐Ÿ˜†. I honestly would hate to live in an apocalypse, as much as I love apocalyptic media, I'd much rather live in a dystopia than a apocalyptic world. At least there'd be a semblance of society in the former. On a total sidetrack, I searched up the name of one of my favourite dystopian books because of this post (more of a graphic novel but it's still one of my favourites) and learnt it is getting a film adaptation! It's on Netflix though, and I don't use that ๐Ÿ˜ญ

ProzXADYN

Normies say smol, gamers say you're maxing your stealth skill.

Sir Skelington

A lot of people have also mentioned bows and arrows, which is quieter. However I would be terrified getting the arrows back every time so that's a no go from me. Also as someone that is super familiar with stringing bows, both recurve and compound, I would not want to deal with it in an apocalypse lol. Long pointy stick is good as is. To be fair, there was many things wrong with Hershel's farm. I think ultimately the prison was a pretty good location and I would want to make my way to one. Using chain-link fences as a wall is a good idea to keep something between you and them but still allow you to attack them. If I ever found your farm though I would definitely stop by, however I can not promise that I wouldn't run off with a bunch of your food supply.

JokermanTalon

I'm also one of those people that have spent a significant amount of time wondering what I'd do in a zombie apocalypse. Given my size I know I probably wouldn't survive long; but still, it's fun to think about! If they were like I am Legend zombies or 28 Days Later I definitely wouldn't stand a chance lol. A pitchfork is a good weapon for sure. Like you said, it covers more surface area when attacking. I'd like to have a firearm with me for emergencies, but I'd probably want to keep it melee or something like a bow and arrow to stay quiet. I probably won't find a castle but being on a farm is the second best choice I think!

alichu

Very good weapon choices Joker. Although you make a very good point in that living in the city with a loud firearm probably isn't the best scenario. If the zombie apocalypse ever happens, I'd only hope to be back in my home state on our farm- at least that way it's open and away from people. I wouldn't make the same mistake Hershel in Walking Dead made either. No one comes on my property unless I really like you. Patrons are allowed though so you'll be fine lol.

alichu

I really enjoyed Cody's idea, so I think I'm going to go with that this upcoming week on youtube! The guy just being totally cool with it is not only somewhat believable in certain cases but really funny to me haha! xD Having a lightsaber during the zombie apocalypse would be bad ass. You'd never have to sharpen it! A club is a good choice too though, maybe with some nails on the end of it. Just be careful not to get it caught in any zombie skulls :P

alichu

It looks like sweet yandere is in the lead so that will probably end up being the winner haha! It is fitting for Valentines Day, but I have a soft spot for the awkward/shy types :P The character you described does sound pretty OP ngl. Taking down an entire building is a win so I can only hope to be on his good side during the apocalypse lol. Although, the cursed sword may be a good option too. Maybe she has a hidden ability that awakens when fighting zombies!

alichu

When it comes to deres I've always leaned toward kuudere, but I love me some tsundere too! A bow and arrow would be good since it wouldn't make much noise. I do agree that having a revolver is just bad ass though, especially an engraved one :P I can see the next person just picking it up and being like, "I'll pick up where you left off Shogun...rest easy." lol

alichu

I may have seen something like what you're describing with the yandere but I'm not entirely sure. What's funny is I feel like that situation would be more believable in some cases haha! xD I do like that idea though- maybe I'll make my youtube yandere character this upcoming week just that! Thanks for the idea Cody :) Hey, a frying pan is a great weapon! Let's even go a step further and have a dude's head strapped to our side like in Lollipop Chainsaw! :P

alichu

Look, people can call me crazy, but I've always kept the possibility open to a zombie apocalypse. They can have fun getting eaten while I live...at least for a little longer lol xD Your weapon of choice seems like a good one! Not only could it be used for protection but like Adman mentioned, you could break doors and stuff that may be in your way. Anything that can be used for multiple things is a win in my opinion!

alichu

Yeah, I also like your pitchfork idea (once again from Zomboid lol) but I am pretty deep into a city so I don't know if that's really realistic to get. Not that they aren't around at all or anything but my number #1 priority would be to leave the city as fast as possible with what I can get in my house currently.

JokermanTalon

I could honestly write a novel about how much I think about surviving a zombie apoc lol. It honestly comes down to what type of zombies we're talking about, are they generic zombies where they need a cranial contusion to go down or are they like I am Legend zombies? I'm assuming they are just regular zombies. If we're talking guns then really you can easily get by with a Ruger 10/22, cheap little 22 rifle that would be easy to find ammo for, especially since most people would go for bigger calibers, they would also be extremely quiet with a real or even makeshift suppressor. Now if we're talking melee then I'm gonna say something nobody is gonna expect...A pitchfork/trident(as if you could find a trident). So why a pitchfork over a spear, well a spear has a single point and in a high stress situation would be difficult to make sure you get the head before the teeth get you. With a pitch fork you have a much larger area to try and hit the head, so long as you saw of the end as to make sure it's not to long for use indoors then it would be very effective I believe. Also it wouldn't hurt to live in a castle, but I want that zombies or not.

Sir Skelington

I knew a s soon as you said spear that you played Zomboid.

Sir Skelington

I don't have much to say about the choices. Although I think sweet is probably the closest to my preference as it's the least likely for the character stand in to get hurt lol. For a zombie apocalypse, I would just use a spear (either a real weapon or even just a long sharpened branch) and a combination hunting rifle that I currently own that takes both 12 gauge buck shot and 30-06. Both are pretty light and are good for using at a distance where you can't get bit and ammo for the gun is easy enough to find around where I am. That being said, I do not have high hopes of surviving for long. Playing Project Zomboid has made me really realize just how hard it would be to survive in a city or even the suburbs with a weapon as loud as a gun.

JokermanTalon

Yanderes aren't my favourite either. At least in the way that they're executed most times, they just make me feel mentally unwell. However, your pink-haired, pink-sweater yandere character will always be in my heart. โค Similar to what Codytachi said, I would love for a roleplay where the yandere/Fdom character is shocked by the willingness of the submissive listener! Assuming I'll be handed whatever I imagine, my armament during a zombie apocalypse would consist of a Gauss rifle and a lightsaber. But if I'm going to go by what I'll likely find in a real life scenario, I think I'll just carry a club with me. I've no idea where I might find firearms near me where I live.

Artilleries

It would make more sense for the Yandere character to be Sweet since valentines is more of like a kind thing, but then again I've never had a valentine so I have no idea. Also, you might as well try and make it a normal human since it would need to be your choice when it comes to choosing a character if they weren't human. Alright, so for the question of this week, ima go all in. So there is this character from Xionic Madness named Omega(I'm gonna base this off when he has his cervical armor since it's cool. Also to make it simple, it's technically in the 3rd and 4th part that he has used them.) and one of the main weapons that I also have on my pfp are called Ballistica. How I will state it is that it's a 3 barreled dual welded gun that also merges on his hands that also adds a powerful punch ability so strong that it will take down any tough zombie AND can even destroy an entire building filled with zombies. I swear to you Alichu, if you read the wiki and see the character before his damaged armor state and the arsenal he has, you will agree with me that he is pretty busted. For melee, Omega keeps a knife on his back that's called a Longinus Knife. It's pretty strong, even if he didn't use it much, but I still feel that it's an incredibly tough weapon to break. (If I did have any other options for melee though, I'd probably use the Cursed Sword we got earlier just to see how efficiently she can be with dealing with the undead) ;)

BloodyAzazel

Yup! That's it! Just a shorter version instead of the full length version. Robinswords on YouTube has a good video on exactly that.

Delta

A Bec de Corbin seems like your exact described weapon of choice, definitely would be effective as a tool in addition to being a weapon. Could be used in an apocalypse setting for breaking down doors and glass quite easily as well.

Adman337

More of a Tsundere guy myself but Yanderes can be compelling when they're not stabbing me I feel. As for weapons the realist in me is leaning towards a bow and arrow but there's also a big part of me that wants to flex on those zombies so I'm gonna go with a revolver purely for drip. Might as well engrave it too, whoever finds it on my corpse is going to get a legendary item.

Shogun

While it's not an option here, while we're talking about yanderes, have you seen the rare 'disappointed yandere' subtype? I vaguely remember reading a doujin where the yandere captures the guy, but he ends up actually being super cool with everything and so she gets all deflated that her meticulous planning was all for nothing haha. For the zombies, if I know anything from playing Left 4 Dead 2 I know that a frying pan is both effective and comically amusing!

codytachi

Been a while since I commented! But hmm... I'd say an aggressive yandere gets my vote lol As for the question, first off,I like that you put "if and WHEN" it happens lol but secondly that's a pretty good question... my main go would essentially a uhh.. long range force multiplier, only problem is that they're loud, so that would be something to use when I don't need to be stealthy, and while I do have a few very nice handmade blades by Zombie Tools, I'd probably have to go with a short polearm, the type with a hammer on one side, with a beaked spike on the opposite side, and a spike on the tip. Could use it as a walking stick, long enough to keep zombies out of reach, and certainly effective enough without requiring a lot of skill.
