Roleplay Poll 23 and QOTW

Happy Halloween everyone! I hope you all have a spooky night lol. Make sure to eat some candy and maybe watch a scary movie if you can. Later today I'll be posting a Halloween roleplay on youtube that was a suggestion by one of you. I had a lot of fun designing and writing the character; for anyone on Twitter you may have seen the sketch already :P

This Friday's character looks like it's going to be a close one. I'll give it one more day before seeing who the winner is haha! The choices for next Friday's character are below so let me know which one you like the most :)

Since it's Halloween I thought it would be fun to ask this: What's your favorite scary movie, anime or game? It's hard for me to decide since there's so many I like but I'll narrow it down to these. Movie: Sinister, Anime: Higurashi (first one, not the remake lol), Game: Resident Evil 4

I don't really know why I thought of this based on what you said, but just the mention of cool scenes and lacking story made me think of a show called Chivalry of a Failed Knight which is mostly just like an ecchi harem show, HOWEVER it has some really detailed fight scenes out of nowhere lol. Yeah I love their songs! And am super glad they made a few more songs for Alan Wake 2! The one I posted was from the first one. Technically my favorite song of theirs is from a game named Control which is made by the same developers. That being said the reason I brought it up was because it's called "Take Control" which I thought was funny based on the song you mentioned! However, that being said I haven't heard the song before but it is very good! I do see what you mean about the singers although I'm not sure why either as they have very different accents. They just give off the same vibes.

I watched the Corpse Party anime just for the gore haha! I felt similar to that as I did about the Blood C anime, which was also lacking in storytelling. But hey, some of the KO scenes were cool if you're into that kinda stuff :P That song was really good! Gave me old rock feels and I like it :) I don't know why but something about the singer's voice reminds me of the guy who sings the opening to Psycho Pass. I think the band's name is "Nothing's Carved In Stone" I know the song's name is Out of Control if you've heard it- really good!

I hope you and all the other Ali Cats reading had a good one, thank you! :D

Haha, you are very right in that I will continue to do spooky stuff on and off regardless of Halloween being over- I just can't help myself xD But don't worry, there will be plenty of sweet and funny things in-between too! Sounds like you had a really fun Halloween, I'm happy to hear that Antoni! :D I think I remember watching The Conjuring, but I can't remember too many details. I think it's about Ed and Loraine? I'm not familiar with Get Out or SCP Containment Breach. I watched a little clip of the game and it looks creepy af lol ; o ;

I also haven't seen Welcome to the NHK in a bit. But I do remember key parts in it, like when they are on the island. I don't think I can ever forget that lol. I have not seen the Corpse Party anime other than a clip or two on youtube but I did hear that it was not great. It seems to be hard to make in the first place since a lot of details are in the bad endings. I don't even know how you would animate that and keep the story moving. Yeah, and for Alan Wake (Both games) they don't try to restrict themselves to only the horror genre anyways. Like in the games, the primary enemies are weak to light so one of the levels has you at a rock concert using pyrotechnics to weaken enemies. Which is not scary at all but is very fun! They also play a really good song during it and the developers now use the same band in pretty much all their games which is neat. Alan Wake Song: https://youtu.be/8-l_kbZbXRQ?si=TycynkL_vayVeX0N

I love Halloween movies too! I made sure to watch NBC and Hocus Pocus yesterday because it's a must for me :P I admit I've never played Dead Space fully. I've seen a lot of others play it though and it looks fun. I'm sure I'd be terrible at it because I'm always bad at scary games haha! I remember Angels of Death! I enjoyed that anime :) I can't remember his name, but I loved the guy with the scythe and bandages.

I love the idea of moefiying inanimate objects too! :P I think it may have been classified as filler but the episodes in Bleach where the characters weapons were humanized was cool af to me. I don't think I've heard of Subnautica but I gave it a look online and I can see that being creepy for sure. Honestly the whole idea of being underwater or in the ocean is scary to me. Interesting for sure but I'd never do anything like that if given the chance haha! I don't think it's exactly the same but talking about this reminded me of a similar game called Iron Lung which also came off a bit creepy xD

A lot of my family members are the same way, so I completely understand. Horror and scary stuff definitely aren't for everyone! Coraline is such a good movie, I loved it. The book is really good too, a favorite of mine for sure ^_^

Aegislash does have a cool evolution line! I love all the choices I gave but the cursed sword sounds like the most fun to me in terms of writing :P It's been a good while since I watched Welcome to the NHK so some bits of it are missing from my memory, but I do remember really liking it! I also love Madoka. Not only did it give a nod to Bokurano but anything with a cute art style and dark plot wins me over lol. I've never played the Corpse Party game myself, but I've watched a lot of playthroughs of it. Not sure if you've seen the anime version of it but it's not very good haha! Don't get me wrong, if you're looking for gore then it's good for that, but I don't think it did a great job at explaining the story like the game does. I'm glad to hear you finished and enjoyed the Alan Wake game! I get what you mean about the outshining thing for sure. I've experienced that same feeling while reading books. I can't tell you how many times I've read something that's classified as a certain genre but gets outshined by other elements of the story.

Oh, Blair Witch is good too! In a similar light the first Paranormal Activity was scary. I remember going to see it in theaters with a friend- we both left very scared haha! I'm sure some people see Parasyte as scary for sure. The idea of a foreign creature invading our bodies is pretty damn creepy! I really loved the anime though and the music was amazing. I looked up the Subliminal game and that looks really cool. I don't do well with many scary games despite loving the genre lol. I'll have to make a note of it to check out when I get my new PC :)

I'm kinda relieved to hear that other people find Subnautica to be a horror game. I have a massive fear of the ocean that prevented me from making progress in that game for longer than it probably should have. Also fuck the Crabsquid lol.

Happy Hallows Eve, Ali-Cats <3 I hope yall have heartfelt hauntings and may your ghouls be well fed and loved. I was gonna go out for a drink with the homies and people watch tonight but I straight up left my phone at work... sooo... uhh... I'm just gonna drink too much cider at home and play Silent Hill 2 again. Its tough for me to get spooked by movies and stuff but that one never fails to make me uncomfortable. Besides, its cold as the devil and people in my town are going nuts, haunted houses were so busy there were lines forming in the rooms, so much fun waiting to get spooked >.>

dead to me

Happy Halloween Ali and everyone reading! Remember, AlichuArt is a place where you can bathe in spooky themes all-year-round, so don't be sad it's over! I've done as you've asked; ate lots of sweets and watched a horror film with my bestie (The Conjuring) - though, we may or may not have both fell asleep halfway through. Lol As for my favourite horror film; 'Get Out' and favourite horror game; SCP Containment Breach. I've never heard of the ones you've favourited, I'll have to give them a search-up. Mimic girl looks AMAZING, I'll surely enjoy that one once all this Halloween celebrating is finished!

Artilleries

Honestly, I don't usually seek out scary games or movies. I usually just end up enjoying them regardless. But I always liked the halloween movies, mostly because they were funny to me, used to watch it with my sister every october. Game is either resident evil 2 remake or dead space, although both versions of re4 are great. Anime might be Angels of Death, not really scary but I could see it being called spooky and I thought it was neat.

Sir Skelington

I picked cursed sword mostly because I love art that involves the 'moefication' of inanimate objects. Maybe an unorthodox choice for spookiness but Subnautica is my favourite horror game even though it was never really supposed to be one. That game really hits you with that feeling of looking into the abyss and hoping that nothing stares back at you. The amount of dread and genuine fear I got while playing that game for the first time was captivating, it really captures the beautiful horror that is the ocean depths.

codytachi

Happy Halloween to you too, Ali. Horror isn't a preferred genre of mine, so I don't have much to pull from. I guess for movie I enjoyed Coraline and Monster House, but nothing for anime or videogames (horror games don't interest me).

Kai Zomei

I have to pick Cursed Sword for this one. Aegislash, and it's whole evolution line, were in my party for almost all of Pokémon Y. For the question, I have not seen too many scary movies or anime. So for movie it would probably be Alien and then anime it would be Madoka Magica. Or Welcome to the NHK if that counts I have several friends that are too terrified to watch it lol. For games, like Crimson said, there is too many choices lol. I tried to narrow it down as much as possible and didn't do a very good job tbh as I still have 3 that I can't decide between as I like them all for different reasons. They are Dead Space (Good and nostalgic), Corpse Party (Extremely creepy), or Resident Evil 2 Remake (Just overall good). Also I have finished Alan Wake 2 now! And I do not think it is my favorite horror game but not cause the game is bad or anything. I think it's narrative aspects outshine the horror aspects of the game to a massive degree.

JokermanTalon

Sinister was also my first pick too lol blare witch came close as I love that found/lost footage horror genre. Scary anime I don't think I've ever seen one lol but I have seen clips of Higurashi and it is definitely too scary for me I'll watch it one day for me wait I'm not sure if parasite counts as a scary anime I've seen that one. As for creepy game that's a hard one there's so many choices like dead space residents evil, or even a new scary coming out soon called subliminal which looks super scary but ultimately I decided to go with the metro series as the post nuclear war scenario is really cool but they also made it creepy with just the eeryness of the abandoned world or the monster that now inhabitant it like the watchers the demons ghost people or the dark ones
