The Coven of Kindness [CW: Hags]

[a little something for the D&D/fantasy folx]

Nearly any driving force in my D&D games can be linked back to The Coven of Kindness in some capacity. They don't particularly like each other, but necessity acquaints a woman with strange bedfellows. Together, they are nigh unstoppable. However, it doesn't take much to drive a wedge between [two of] them. They make a little cameo in the next episode of our game :)

The Coven of Kindness consists of three tyrannical hags. Nothing in The Land escapes their sight and few entities surpass their power.

First [and perhaps most kind] is Nanny Nevyr Nighttime - the Hag of Love, Cruelty and Dreams. She feeds on stories. Nanny is a Dusk Hag. She often takes the appearance of a sweet old woman in need. She will sacrifice anything for the betterment of the tale she is weaving - even if that means acting against her own interests. Nanny enjoys a happy ending as much as a cruel twist, but cruel twists tend to be less cumbersome to orchestrate. Her skin is a leathery tangerine orange. Her eyes softly glow red. Her hair is a dark, shiny silver. She reminds most people of their grandma [even in her true form]. She has a soothing smile. Nanny hails from the Feywild. She loves to knit and has many children. Her protégé is [Granny] Gytha Guineafowl.

Second [and perhaps most evil] is Moribund Glib - the hag of Hatred, Pain and Ambition. She feeds on suffering. Moribund is a Night Hag. Moribund wears several severed hands of prominent warriors and scholars on her belt. Having no right hand of her own, she can swap between the lot. When wielding the hand of a Paladin warrior, she has the ability to smite. The hand of a Warlock lets her invoke their patrons' power. A cleric's hand grants her access to holy healing [you get the idea]. She is a woman of magical science. Her minions also undergo grotesque cosmetic and functional experimentation. It was her idea to combine all Githyanki with all Gnolls and create a hybrid race. She trades in body parts of beasts and fallen champions. She has one child who is a massive disappointment to her, as her only daughter is considered a "not so bad, eh!" by the locals of her village. Moribund is a fallen Asimar and blinded her sister [The Angel Justice] by plucking out her eyes for fun. Her skin is pale lavender. Her hair is jet black. Her fangs and nails are dark putrid green.

Third [and perhaps most childlike] is G'linda Riggamortiz - the hag of Power, Lust and Exuberance. G'linda is a collector and is happy and clear headed so long as she feels her collection is growing. This can be explained by the fact that G'linda is a Mercury Dragon and, as such, desires her hoard not to be massive in size but to be full of unique items - each distinct from the other [preferably one-of-a-kind]. G'linda has good days and bad days. G'linda can't remember if she has any children. G'linda is the reason the Coven of Kindess exists. If G'linda doens't have friends around, she gets lonely and begins to sulk. When G'linda wakes up from sulking, she finds whole towns have been razed to the ground in pools of fiery mercury. No one knows where G'linda comes from, but Mercury Dragons have been said to be extinct for a long time. Her skin is scaley and teal [but looks green in the sunlight]. Her mouth is covered in golden shimmery drool which constantly trails behind her. She sometimes forgets where she is. She is rich beyond her wildest dreams [but can't always remember where she put her money]. She reeks of mercury [but you'd never know].

There are others. Young Lunula Wretch, the Sea Hag [desperate for love]. Ophelia Grudge the Anise Hag [one of Nanny's daughters and only 6 years old]. Drexyl the Yeth Hound - First Hag of His Kind. But none as powerful as them. None as calculating. None as potent.

Beware the Coven of Kindness
