2024-10-11 03:31:09 +0000 UTCOh man. Sometimes I’m crushed thinking of all the times I wanted to compliment someone or tell someone I love them but hesitated out of fear or cowardice. The weight of it gets overwhelming. I was taught that love should be doled out sparingly to only those who deserve it, but the reality couldn’t be more different. Love is the most important thing we have. It’s the most infinite resource on this earth. And it can change lives. It’s a practice to remind ourselves that love is free to give and receive, but it’s worth it every time we share it with each other.

I’ve sat in the parking lot at work with my foot on the brake for 30 mins because the security guard I wave to every day was telling me how he used to run the streets but his mother moved them to the suburbs which changed the whole trajectory of his life. At one point he said something about not having many good years left, and it made me so sad. I can never extricate myself in those moments. It feels too important to just be there, but it can also be exhausting sometimes.

2024-05-05 22:34:04 +0000 UTCOk, I was gunna talk about my superpower, but after listening the whole way through, I just wanna melt. I'm sure your listening ear meant so much to her. I work in a call center and talk to strangers every day. There are so many alone in this world who just need someone to listen. They'll spend an hour just telling you about whatever random shit is on their mind, sometimes completely breaking down and letting go like they never have. The company pressures to make your call times low, but I make time for those that need it. They warm my heart and balance out the Karen's. Ok, now speaking of balance, since one crying sad tears, I might as well keep going and turn em to happy ones. Not to brag, but my superpower is gift giving. My entire family looks forward to the my gifts. I listen intently year round and find unique things that meet their interests that they never knew they wanted. It's not about money either. It's seeing their faces when they open it. Take, for example, my lil cousin, I'm in my 20s at the time, he's about to turn 11. He's secretly super obsessed with Harry Potter, but wants to be a cool kid and doesn't let his nerd flag fly. [Except with his cool nerdy older cousin that is] so I went on Etsy and got him his very own letter to Hogwarts. Damn kid is a freshman in college now and has it framed on his wall in his dorm. ❤️ For my mom's 60th, we threw her a surprise party, but having already spoiled her over the years with all the big gifts, I got her 60 gifts to wake up to, all tiny things, most you can find at the dollar store, but the look on her face while drinking coffee that morning, absolutely priceless, and I'll never forget it. Ok, I could go on, but happy tears achieved, so like you, I'll save the rest for another day.

It's much appreciated 😊 For superpower(s)... hmm, there's 2 things that people tend to tell me they notice about me, 1 - I'm a positive force and 2 - I'm mellow. It translates better in person, people find me calming. Online, people tend to think it's not real but I'm not great at lying to begin with. I guess I just see good in everything. I don't see why people make things more stressful or complicated when obstacles always have a resolution of sorts. So I take each obstacle, evaluate and keep an open mind. Sometimes things are not straightforward but that's okay. Like I said, everything has some type of solution. And for patience, I have a lot of it. It really takes a lot to shake me up. IDK.. it's how I've always been. Again, why rush. Rushing can lead to mistakes. Or worse. 😊💛

I don’t work with children, but little kids under 5 are mesmerized by me and I can connect with anyone in that age range. Babies at the grocery store, my kids’ classmates, strangers on the beach, everywhere I go, even the most reserved little kids develop an affinity for me. Ms. Rachel and Blippy ain’t got nothin on me. I don’t work in journalism or anything but I am uniquely good at asking questions and using lines of questioning to get to more profound insights. This one is a blessing and a curse. As useful as knowing what to ask is, it can also get socially awkward. All situations don’t call for hard hitting questions and it can be tough to turn this one off sometimes

2024-04-12 10:21:23 +0000 UTCI'm glad to see I'm not the only one to get teary from this one 🖤 As someone who has always felt unseen, being on the receiving end of a simple, kind gesture like that is something that goes straight to the vault of happy moments. Those that stick out in your mind for years after. That even though that person won't remember it, it holds a special place for me. As for a super power, I can't say I really have one.
