784 Fangs in the Grass (D&D 5e + Shadowdark)

This is a short adventure provided in D&D 5e and Shadowdark RPG formats; use your system of choice. In addition, this short adventure is but a portion of a larger regional mini-setting we've been working on this month. The adventure occurs in the regional map shown below. In Fangs in the Grass, a group of valiant adventurers journey to a raided village, Letterton, and find it in shambles. There are footprints of peasant survivors leading to a farmstead east of the ruins. There, the characters encounter an unkempt farmland with tall grass and wheat fields. The farmhouse chimney spouts smoke but no one appears to be in sight.

Unbeknown to the characters a pack of ravenous gnolls prowl hidden by the tall grass. Fifteen villagers hide in fear in the farmhouse, knowing that they are surrounded by the dreaded hyena-folk. The characters' approach to the farmhouse, be it silent or reckless, marks the nature of the following encounter. It could be a stealth mission to take out the spread-out gnolls one by one. Or it could be a kick-the-door, all-out confrontation for survival. It is the characters' choice.

Also included in the attachments below are the magazine PDFs with the variant gnolls included in this month's adventures. Both are available for D&D 5e and Shadowdark RPG.
