In Abode of the Dying Sun, the characters learn of a secluded temple in the desert, in the depths of the Shimmering Sands. There, an infamous cult is said to be ready for a celestial event that shall, if successful, bring forth the consumption of the sun to bring an era of darkness. Or so the gossip says. The characters are sent to investigate this matter and perhaps root out the evil cultists from this temple. The journey there is not for the faint of heart.

In this level-2 Shadowdark adventure, the characters explore a desert temple inhabited by a cohort of cultists in the service of two priests. They are the Children of the Scorched Ray, their strange deluded faith leads them to believe that the sun is dying. The underground compound, a crumbling temple dedicated to small water-baed gods, was not built by them. In a set of closed-off chambers, the strange axolotl spirits still linger, awaiting a chance to be free once more.
This adventure has been designed for Shadowdark RPG through their 3rd party license. The system is meant to be accessible to OSR players and modern players alike. Adapting the material to 5e or other systems should not be difficult.
