I remember it being grindy as well. Although at least they were trying to make an open ended world to interact with. Too many games today dont aspire to anythign but spectacle.

Which, you know, fair enough; a few years on a pirate ship, I'd be ready to stab the guy in the next hammock over his foot hygiene, too. So, disband, start a new boat, watch your stats slowly crumble.
