We've noticed that the vast majority of you don't use the sponsor-free videos, so we wanted to make sure that you know where to find them.
As a note: We only upload videos to this playlist that have a sponsor attached, so not every video goes in this playlist.

We've heard in our Discord numerous times most people don't really care about getting our videos ad or sponsor-free, so we wanted to pose a question to you here to generate some feedback and ideas.
A) Do you or do you not care about getting our videos sponsor or ad-free? If you do, did you not watch them because you couldn't find the link?
B) If we were to look at not removing that perk, but potentially dropping it down to the $5 tier to incentivize our $1 and $3 members to bump up, and replace it with a better perk at the $10 tier, what would be of interest to you?

I am one of the 4 people who have YouTube Premium, so you're getting paid for my views and I never have to watch ads. Therefore, I'd love a tier that gets me exclusive stuff without the ad free part.

YouTube ads I hate but as a middle-aged person that has never used Patreon before subscribing to you guys I didn't not know how so I just got YouTube Premium as I feel YouTube is easier to navigate. Well worth the $10 per month I pay to you guys. Keep up the good with.

2025-08-26 05:33:00 +0000 UTCI specifically use the 5 dollar tier to get ad free stuff because YouTube ads consistently interrupt the show in a way that seriously pisses me off. The whole point is to have your conversations and essays in the background while I do useful things like ya know cook dinner and such. :-) I should note however that I have no problem with the Sponsored streams. These are generally well placed, fairly entertaining, informative, or funny on their own, and I like how Jack uses them for passive aggressive snark. He's a genius at that. On a tangential note, the most recent AiN ad was fantastically funny. The key difference is these do not interrupt the experience or vibe, which is the main reason for enjoying your shows in the first place.

Couldn’t you just lock ad-free behind a Patreon post? That said I clearly don’t care enough to take action to avoid the ads meaningfully so they can’t be a factor in my decision to support at the level I do.

I download the latest from that playlist regularly for offline/travel enjoyment, and enjoy a "single pane of glass" that doesn't require me to mess with YT/Patreon -- excepting of course to to pay Second Wind and grab the new Ad-Free playlist link when it changes). I would like to be able to go to *one place* (the playlist) to see the videos I want, instead of having to hunt around.

I'm at the $10 tier because I love the content you guys produce and want to keep seeing it. That being said, I wouldn't complain if there was a fun new perk.

Getting the full force of uninterrupted Yahtzee or JM8 dropping there uninterrupted stream of consciousness is something I am happy to pay for. But a Jack crafted Ad at the end… hell some times I will stay watch to the end just to see where he goes with them- keep up the good (slightly surreal) work up Jack😀 A2: I consume almost all your content through the patreon app on my phone so what I would like as a higher tier subscriber is for all of my feed on Patreon to be for ad free vids… I did not know there was one nor did I go looking for the link to Ad free though. Thanks for that. I do realise I am a minority given that I use Patreon as a means of consuming your content and not direct from YouTube. I do not have nor do I want a YouTube account. So I doubt I represent many, but you did ask, so that’s my answer. Hope it helps.

2025-03-14 00:01:27 +0000 UTC1) although I'm a $10 subscriber I watch the vids with ads anyway, they don't bother me or cost me anything but a little extra time and hopefully generate a little extra revenue for you guys. 2) as far as an extra perk goes I've honestly got no idea, I don't pay a subscription to any other Patreon channels or anything so I've got nothing to compare you to on the perks front. I'm happy with what I'm getting.

It should be ALL of your videos that don't have ads/sponsors. I would like to be able to go to *one place* to see the videos I want, instead of having to hunt around. Looking at the last two Patreon posts for FR/SR: * FR: Wed Mar 12 - embeds the video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNie0I51Eb0 - does not include a sponsor segment unless you count the very short "Let's All Laugh" shirt intro segment * SR: Thu Mar 6 - embeds the video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KC5-ntUzqr8 - includes a sponsor segment for "Chains of Freedom" Right now if I want to make sure I see the sponsor-free version, I have to 1) wait for a notification that the video I want is available, 2) manually go to my YT playlists and find the SW SF playlist, 3) hope the sponsor-free version of the video is actually there. Sometimes it's not because you haven't uploaded it yet, sometimes it's not because there isn't a sponsored version of the video, so it's not ON the playlist, which, again, makes no sense. So for me I think the main confusion is that even if a video isn't labeled "sponsor-free", it might actually *be* sponsor-free! And I can't tell without watching it!

2025-03-13 22:39:33 +0000 UTCAlthough I prefer ad-free in theory, at the end of the day I don't care too much and watch the main videos because: 1/ I usually watch by following the link in the emails I get from Patreon, rather than checking the ad-free playlist 2/ The ad-free playlist tends to be late to the party and not immediately show the new content (looking at it right now the most recent video I can see is the Black Mesa Ironman from a week ago and "3 unavailable videos are hidden")

2025-03-13 22:32:58 +0000 UTCA: Ads are evil. Seeing one ad is infinity ads too many. This is why I pay you on Patreon; I don't ever, under any circumstances, want to see any ads. I consider sponsor segments to be 100% equivalent to ads. To the extent I don't watch the ad- or sponsor-free videos, it's because they're hard to find. I had the main SW feed subscribed in YouTube since you created it, but I just recently removed it and am now relying on Patreon notifications to let me know when the videos I care about (which, I'll be honest, are just FR and SR; I rarely ever watch any other SW videos) are available each Wednesday and alternate Thursdays. The SW YouTube feed was 95% videos I had no interest in. I don't honestly know whether the Patreon video links are to the ad-free versions; I think they generally are but maybe sometimes they aren't? B: I'm already at the $10 tier and it's unlikely you could incentivize me higher. I would not drop to the $5 tier if you made that change, I'd stay at the $10 tier; $10/month for FR/SR is a good deal to me.

I tend to watch through Patreon rather than YouTube directly, as that tends to block the ads... was not aware of this alternate method. B. I would support moving this perk to a lower tier and replacing with something else instead. Keep being awesome!

Either way I don't plan on changing my teir, I'm happy with receiving credit on videos 😊

I don't mind watching videos with ads, especially yours which are very entertaining and relevant to my interests. It would be nice if there was a way to cut out Youtube's ads, but I don't know if that's possible for you. No big deal if it isn't.

In fact a lot of times I just mute the video and let the sponsor portion play out without skipping on the video, just in case it helps with the algorithm. Youtube ad interruptions are just a nuisance I've come to live with, I can take them or leave them these days. B. I'd love to be able to submit ideas for games in the Yahtzee Tries or group streams! I give ideas to JM8 regularly for design delve and the dev-heads crew regularly looks for audience feedback, but that's kinda where it pauses except mid-stream stuff. Still, with how awesome it feels to know I've contributed to Second Wind beyond just financials, I think having a "user recommendation" perk for the high dollar patrons would get you a lot of mileage in return.

Honestly I don't personally care much about Patreon perks, I just want to help keep the team employed with my paltry contributions. I'm at the level I'm at because that's what I can comfortably afford. Edit: To try and get a more helpful sort of answer, perks that I would actually care about would pretty much be any sort of bonus videos. I get that can be difficult to do given it would take more time and effort to put them together on top of what y'all are already doing, but that's all I've got.

Incentivize those numbers up! C: I don't have tons of free time to engage with live streams, I would advocate for more scripted content.

They could pick 1 of maybe 5 decent games so they have some choice and it's not like I only play Sims and I got doom etc. B: could also try make it more about the community. Since people like yahtz so much it could be "contribute to the short list of games for yahtz tries" (or hot Monday energy) and then there's just a word doc that we can see (view only) that you update periodically with reccos and ones that are like NO get a strike through so people stop asking etc etc

I joined on the $10 tier because i wanted to support y'all, and get access to the slower premium channels on Discord to chat. Any extras are secondary. If financed allowed, I'd've joined the $50 tier day 1. Can't sadly, so i throw what i can.

Most of the time they are enjoyable or I can fast forward if I’ve seen it before. More of a hassle to find the video on Patreon to save for viewing later. B) behind the scenes videos on how the content is made is always appreciated. (May already be at the $5 tier though). Maybe merch store discounts once a quarter?

2025-03-13 19:59:56 +0000 UTCHonestly I don’t mind the ad reads… There’s one in particular from S3 of adventure is nigh where yahtzee somewhat impolitely extols the virtues of foundry vtt whilst jack dies inside that always makes me laugh very hard indeed! It could be cool to get more behind the scenes or cutting room floor style content as a higher tier perk? Some more stuff like that vid where Yahtzee’s remembers US states could be cool… Like if the team have random ideas that wouldn’t fit in an existing series, or that they’d like to publish an early draft for to potentially flesh out later, then that would be cool too see! Long shot and probably not feasible, but how about a phoenix tier perk where we could occassionally enter into a draw to play a one-shot (ie 2-3 hour) DnD campaign with Jack as DM?

2025-03-13 19:59:54 +0000 UTCI've mentioned this in the channel before but I'm also in the group where it's more of a hassle to go check the playlist if I don't know there's going to be a video there, so I don't bother most of the time since the sponsor segments aren't annoying enough to outweigh it. I also trust that you understand the technical details better than I do for why it's not feasible to include regular videos in the unlisted playlist when there isn't a sponsor-free version, so I'll leave it at that. For a replacement perk if it's something new rather than just a move between tiers I'm curious, but it doesn't particularly matter to me as a current Phoenix member.

Any kind of simple interactivity would be nice, but at the end of the day we just want more content from y'all. So long as we can make sure it's sustainable to you, that is.

A lot (most?) of your sponsors are for games I may be interested in. Or it's Yahtzee doing a funny ad read of a more typical YouTube sponsor. Either way, I don't mind them.

Adventure is Nigh! does ads the best, but I recognize that they're uniquely integrated sometimes, and also that show is an hour long. Ads mostly bother me when they're at the end of Fully Ramblomatic because thats a series I like to let play in the background, but I forget that there is an ad-free version. Anything else I'm happy to let the ads play, especially when Jack is doing some weird shit like in the plush ads

Only real complaint is that the non-vandalized video often doesn't show up there right away. And since you asked: I *absolutely require* ad-free videos, which is why I chose that tier. $10/month isn't a hardship for me (so far; who knows what new horrors we will face even next week), so I'd keep my membership at that level even if ad-free were to drop to a lower tier.

And to be honest I am very curious about what sponsors you do vet, and sometimes watch the ad segments anyway. So no, I do not use this playlist. Of course a "better" $10 tier would be welcome, if you can afford the resources for it. Me, I'm just happy to be in the end credits, have a guilt-free ad blocking, and generally support you.

Discoverability is definitely a YouTube problem more than anything. Easier to find the videos on the YouTube app rather than go through Patreon. Pinning that list will help though.

2025-03-13 19:46:24 +0000 UTCUnfortunately not. If the video is unlisted, but is in a public playlist, then it'll be shown to everyone who goes to the playlist. So both the playlist and the video have to be unlisted for the perk to work as intended. Totally agree it's not ideal though and I wish Patreon and YouTube could partner to make that easier.

However, I really enjoy "skit" ads that show your personalities. I find that to be worth the time to give it a listen or watch, but I know it requires more effort to produce.

2025-03-13 19:46:15 +0000 UTCI think for me it’s just force of habit - I stream podcasts through the iPhone podcasts app and watch any videos through the standard YouTube channel, so coming to those through patreon seemed like an extra step. To be honest I’m so desensitised to ads anyway given their ubiquitous nature they are mostly tuned out.

Like if you have 5 videos released and video 4 has an unlisted sponsor free one you’d have a playlist containing: 1 (main video) 2 (main video) 3 (main video) 4 (ad-free video) 5 (main video) ?

2025-03-13 19:43:42 +0000 UTCI do care, but the thing is, I get the regular version with ads and sponsors in my regular YT recs almost as soon as it is released, whereas I have to go hunt for the ad/sponsor-free one. It's inconvenient. And I don't see the ads anyway, because I have a browser plugin that skips them. Since I've already paid you, I see no issue. So for the second question the answer would be yes for me, obviously.
