Thank you. This means the world to me. It's great to have the community's support.

To be fair, I think the Kraven column was fairly solid, considering that I knew I wanted to do a video later. It is very hard to describe a lot of those moments in prose without it seeming like I'm either exaggerating or being sarcastic. (I've had people say they didn't believe me, until they actually saw the clips.) And you get into the awkward position of having to wait for the movie to release on digital. And I wonder if the video maybe didn't perform as well on YouTube as it might have because I waited. (And I know that the beauty of the Patreon model is that we don't have to worry *too much* about those metrics, but it is something I am acutely aware of.)

To be fair, "Deadpool and Wolverine" was more of an extended therapy session!

Darren Mooney

Yep. I'm on record, before it came out, of being the opinion that "Kraven" could have been (without being very good) the best comic book movie of the year. Obviously, that was... not the case.

Darren Mooney

Thank you. I didn't necessarily intend it t be a "vicious takedown." It was just a "this is how movies get made now" piece, with Kraven being the most obvious and overt recent examples, in ways that I wanted to explore. Because, I think, these are very obvious cases.

@Darren - this is the type of content I am very happy to pay for. Keep up the good work

Great video essay Darren! This one nicely took advantage of the longer video format. The extra work more than justifies the time it takes (I'd much rather have future entries like this than a snarky "haha Kraven is bad!" column pumped out the day after a movie comes out.

This is like the 250 episode on Deadpool & Wolverine or The Last Jedi I'm always happy to see/hear a well thought out take down

To the "It won't have been a masterpiece" argument: Having someone fascinated by the void make a movie about a character whose foil is notably absent could have been a very interesting self-aware choice and lead to anything from a thoughtful to a subtly funny movie. On the other hand, this one seems to be somewhat funny too.

Darren, that was vicious. I bow in your direction.
