balance is difficult. I once worked on a card game. At the time, the milling mechanic of a certain set was considered uncompetitive because it needed too many cards to start the intentionally bad milling engine. However, within three subsequent releases, we had trouble with a enchant card that allows the duplication of effects at the cost of health. Infinite health generators weren't nerfed before since win conditions were currently trending away from the opponent's life totals.
